I lived in Mississippi the last time there was any real growth. It's when gambling was legalized. Time to take another bold step... Legalize sports gambling, legalize recreational marijuana use and farm it for the rest of the country, educate the adult workforce on an emerging technology and bring in a growth sector that could establish a future for the state, or any other idea that looks to the future.

While I don't live in Mississippi anymore, what little news that makes it out makes the government sound awfully social focused. Guns, flags, bathrooms, marriage, refusing service laws... From the outside looking in, if half the effort was put into economic issues in Mississippi as the social agenda, it would be booming.

In about 30 years, MS will be the first majority black state, it will be interesting to see how majority black leadership works at the state level, it can't be much worse than what we have now.

This is why Mississippi is a ******-up State. In other States, they don't rely on political hacks to help their economy. In Mississippi, everybody is so geeked up on how much tax-payer money they can bring to our State.

If the State of Mississippi would get over their love-affair with Gubmin-funded money, maybe the State would finally get off the bottom of the the economic rung.

Lets not pretend Mississippi is the only state that relies on federal dollars more than it gives. Plenty lf states rely on federal dollars to come in at a higher clip than go out .

Maybe not have a legal system that punishes free enterprise, that sues the living **** out of anyone who tries to do something?

We had some form of legal reform, but it's still a State that's first in "Jackpot Justice".

Here in Texas, we have incompetent politicians, but we don't give a ****. Why? because we don't rely on them to keep our economy rolling.

What can you do in Iowa? Either become a farmer, or a teacher. Or maybe become a Rural Grange Red Cell leader.
