He had 5 winning seasons out of 6.5 total.
Another way of looking at this is that they haven’t achieved the same level of success without him.
If Urban Meyer was hired, I doubt he wins one in the next five years either. He'd have NU in contention for sure, but winning one? Doubtful.
Honestly, at this point I don’t think I even care that much who takes the job, because there aren’t any “wow” hires out there.

His one season as OC of the Patriots they went 13-3 in the regular season and made the Super Bowl. They were 2nd in the NFL in total yards and 3rd in scoring.

Sign me up if true. Guy is a professional. I remember watching him on Hard Knocks when he was with the Texans. Seemed like a good guy actually, just tough. He had Vrabel as his LB coach and Romeo C. as his DC.

Edit: Although it's entirely possible it could have been a rep from Alabama meeting with UNL reps? Doesn't have to be BOB himself. In fact, I feel like coaches don't actually go to the university until it's time to introduce them. Especially these days. Interviews are probably conducted over Zoom.

Sark seems to have been revived his career at AL and turned around TX. Could do worse, he checks all the boxes.
Lane also rejuvenated his career at AL. Even though BOB seems like a douche he would be an adult at the program and be a professional.
