ChatGPT says this 2026 team has more blue chip talent than any team Spurrier had.

Thoughts?

One has to ask if the secondary is being coached to turn receivers loose all the time.

If they are, then you know where the problem lies and how to try to rectify it.

If they aren't, then why can't they perform their assignments? Lack of understanding? Processing speed? Insufficient grey matter between the ears? Physical inability?

Teacher or student?

It’s not talent. Against Alabama, Georgia, or Texas, you concede that those programs have unmatched talent. Still, Carolina is not far behind in terms of raw talent and is, on paper, more talented than MSU or KY all day. Carolina is expected to be competitive with elite teams. I don’t think coaching is terrible, but don’t like Beamers executive decisions a lot of the time. It’s really just execution. Little things. Running a clean offense, defense, and avoiding penalties. Even things like the play clock running down and the receivers looking confused is a sign of an ineffective team. A lot of people were excited about this “backyard football” approach the offense was going to take this season, but to me it looks sloppy and isn’t very intentional.

Who recruited the students?

They still have students? 😁

Everyone knows recruiting is an inexact science, at best. Look at the 5-star QBs at ClemTech that were busts. Point is, is the problem an ineffective coach or players that can't perform... and why?

To solve a problem, one must first correctly identify the problem.

I don’t care what stars say or this or that website….we haven’t had as good a set of players since 2010-2011ish timeframe. Had difference makers, depth, etc.
I mean we can all name 6 -7 SC TEs off top of our head that would outplay these guys from the last 20-25 years. Same with DBs, WRs, and couple other positions. Key talent missing.
I can’t blame sellers , the OC or anyone else for when a guy can’t catch a ball throw between his numbers.
We all see the bad stuff….but if you’re supposed to be a legit SEC team….you have to catch those type balls 95% of the time. I’ve seen more drops this year on catchable balls than i can remember in the past.
