I held out hope longer than most for Moorhead to turn things around. Boy was I wrong. I’m sure he is a good man but he didn’t get the most important factor of being a coach and that is player accountability. To be successful you have to push players past their comfort zones. I am proud of every player on our team , I support them but I expect the same effort in return. It’s unfortunate but we held no accountability to these players.
A coach’s job is to push limits not be ok with effort at the players whim. We recruit athletes that have been dominant in high school against players in most cases aren’t on par with SEC athletes. So a coach has to push and demand effort at all times. The top programs demand excellence at all times. This staff didn’t seem to based on lackadaisical efforts in games on national tv. If you get subpar effort in games what do you think goes on in practice.
With that being said I hope Cohen, who was an intense coach , hires a coach that will fulfill these needs. It’s time we have a team that represents us with heart and pride to wear the Maroon and White. I want a coaching staff that instills a fight and belief in MState players the same as our passionate fan base. We are at a crossroad now. This hire will determine the attitude of our future players on and off the field.
We as a fan base deserve a motivating, winning attitude and our players deserve the same. I believe Cohen gets this hire right!
