Coaching change over?

Very quiet on the coaching staff front. I thought we had only 4 or so coaches under contract for the coming year? I know we lost one to Maryland and brought Baker back as the replacement. As has been discussed in other threads, getting quality staff to join at this point would be a challenge without multi year deals. I would hope Hobbs would think carefully before making such financial commitments at this point. I think Ash's supposed strong contacts and relationships within the coaching fraternity was another aspect of his hire that was way overblown.

I'm surprised that Niemann is still on staff, tbh. Maybe Ash is trying to give him some cover while he finds a spot to land, and he just hasn't been able to find another opportunity.

I doubt Ash pushes him out. They are very close and I could see Niemann staying on as DC in title but Ash calling plays.

That's like paying a plumber to watch you fix your own sink... after you already paid him to fix that sink, but he wasn't able to.

Quite true, but at least the sink gets fixed. To stay with your analogy; for the first two thirds of the season before Ash grabbed the wrench there was water spilling all over the floor.

Agree, but it's not as if JN is doing nothing. He's probably holding the flashlight and maybe applying the plumber's putty.

Yeah, but no reason to keep paying that plumber to watch you do his job. Keeping Niemann on as DC-in-name-only while Ash does the work is nuts.

I hear you but to stick with the analogy theme it would be like Ash firing an older brother or uncle. I’m not saying he shouldn’t do it but they are very close (at least based on what I’ve read).

He's gone. Just hasn't been announced yet. You would know this if you paid $9 a month.

I'm aware that he's "all but gone" or "he's gone but for the announcement"... but I'm surprised there hasn't been an official announcement yet, making me think that the "soft landing / next opportunity" news that they'd want to include in the announcement hasn't been forthcoming.

Usually we don't hear anything until they announce he is taking another coaching job somewhere else. Never says they were asked to leave.

Can JN recruit? That might be reason to keep him.

Otherwise get someone who can recruit and learn as DC under Ash.

That's a lot less worse than flood damage.

I can't afford that. I'm paying two plumbers to repair the massive amount of flood damage the previous plumber caused, including letting a bunch of criminals into my house.
The one plumber is standing there with a pained look on his face like he just sharted. The other one his holding a dim flashlight and applying plumber's putty to the other plumber's crack.
