Wallace being named as associate head coach goes back to my brown nosing comment. Iowa's head football coaching job can surely hire somebody that's a ton better than Wallace.
Hoping that was just KF throwing him a bone to justify a pay raise, or to help him land a DC or HC job somewhere else sooner than later. I'm in the "full reset when KF goes" camp, but that's for another thread.

He might also have taken on some additional administrative responsibilities.

I know he went out on the dancing circuit for the I Club meetings around the state. He came and talked at the one in CR. Learning the schmoozing process.

Riley to LSU
Campbell to Penn State
Kiffin to Florida
What else you got?

Riley left Oklahoma because he didn't want to go to the SEC. Why would he go to LSU? He also has a massive buyout. I can't imagine a school wanting to pay that and then sign him to a new deal.

I don't know if I get the same impression you do. If I was a betting man I'd bet Wallace because (a) he's the closes thing to keeping Phil Parker who will retire and (b) if we don't hire him he'll leave because he's not going to wait around 25 years for the next coaching hire.
2 really bad reasons to hire anybody as a HC — the fear of losing people

I don't know about thinking he's "god" but being named associate HC makes ya think he's in line for it. Personally, I don't see it. I'm guessing they like the idea of Wallace as a way of preserving some of the programs culture. (avoiding a Fickell)

My comment was about the broader idea that as a TOP 25 program we can't hire a guy with no HC experience. We almost did it last time with Stoops.
The title given to Wallace was to be able to give him more money. In no way was it about putting him in line to be Kirk’s successor.

I think he feels like LSU has more money and talent locally. I could be wrong on every single prediction, I was trying to go off the wall a bit

Bob was nationally well known already as a DC. He actually was a DC. Wallace not even that. Bob was offered the HC job at Minnesota just a year before Hayden retired and turned it fine in anticipation of getting the Iowa job eventually.
I seem to recall that, the infamous interviews by the committee. Stoops wanted the job but the committee told him they had more to interview (KF I think?) Oklahoma had an offer on the table to Bob and told him to take it or leave it.

Agree. But I think they will. Smith will then go back to Oregon State I’d assume.
my BiL is a 4th generation MSU alum/fanatic. I gave my opinion to him and he went off. They HATE that guy right now. I think its crazy after Tucker and the sanctions to try another coach after year 2. But I think you are right. They will do it. Good luck with that.

I agree, but if they find he knowingly played ineligible guys, he is probably gone for cause.
He will be hired somewhere.
It sure feels like this program is always getting into trouble.

Looks like all of the violations were committed by Tucker. Smith is safe (right now).

I think the MSU brass keeps Smith, for the sake of program stability, and they hope he improves next season.

If Smith leaves on his own at the end of the year he might be able to avoid a departure buyout due to the violations and sanctions.

Agreed. My comment was not about Wallace.

I bet Urban Meyer is ready to jump back in. He is too aggressive etc to not want in the action

He just told Penn State he has no interest in interviewing or coaching. Those were his words last Saturday in Iowa City.

I think Beth will go the same route as when Bluder left and promote from on Staff , We might not like the lack of playoffs but Iowa is 1 of only 4 Teams to have winning record the last 11 Years straight and the Culture is imprinted, I would wager either Wallace or Lester is next head Coach, I would prefer Lester due to previous HC experience with Wallace taking over as DC and keeping the Asst HC title if that is the route Beth goes, If an Outside Coach I would be fine with Fitz if a majority of the Assistants stay on .

Wilcox of Cal is fired.
They are 6-5, pretty respectable considering they lost QB Mendoza,Heisman fav,to IU.
They replaced him with best frosh. QB in country,
Sagapolutele.
This kid will be top QB in portal if he leaves after this firing.

I think Fitz ends up at Penn State, IF they don't just sign the dude who is IC right now.

Absolutely no way. Only guy who it could or should be would Phil Parker but he’s way too old. Wallace has zero credentials to do it and Lester has lead the passing game to last in the Big Ten again? We are to big of a job.

Watching the replay looks like a guy that coached his last home game. Really seemed down. Not sure but he seemed a bit on the verge of losing it a few times. Not saying I do or don’t want him to step down but it just felt different.

You never know but I don’t see Campbell leaving ISU. There’s probably very few jobs he would consider, I.e. Michigan, OSU and PSU, and just wouldn’t be a big enough name for any of those donor/fan bases to get excited about.
The head coach for a mid-tier second-level conference team would only consider a handful of blue-bloods as a possible promotion? LOL
