I'm sure that helped. GS's personal reputation and celebrity helped. He's an interesting story. The general momentum of the program helped. Lots of voters don't know much, but they know that every time they hear "Rutgers" lately it's for something positive. So they see that lopsided score vs. Temple and it all clicks in their heads.
