Guys I appreciate your enthusiasm. That said, I am modestly concerned/skeptical of the defense for this season and here's why.
1) new system and lots of learning
2) at times this spring, d looked susceptible to the run. Will we be able to stop heavy b1g run game?

On the positive side, I liked the flexibility and multiple disguised sets. If we can get opponents to 3rd and 6, we're gonna be fine. Imo 1st and 2nd down will be critical.

I liked our improvements on speed, athleticism, swarming and tackling fundamentals that I saw. Get opponents to pass on 3rd down and I believe we're going to be ecstatic with our turnover stats.

GBR
AND maybe we'll make qbs overthink things. If not disguised properly, coordinator and qb just need an easy audible.

IIRC, back in the wishbone heyday, I remember hearing that every week we ran a few series vs OU in practice that way when it came to game week we weren't cramming for OU and the scout team was getting good at it

I honestly cannot remember the last coach to leave NU for a promotion in any sport
For the higher profile men's sports - most recent seems like it would have been DVH and his coaching tree (Childress). For basketball I can think of none. For football, I'm going all the way back to Warren Powers leaving to become head coach at Washington State. I'm sure there has to be some in the women's VB program. Anyway, they are few and far between.

Van Horn was the first that came to mind for me, as well

that was 21 years ago (!)

Danny Busboom - Louisville HC - Volleyball
Chris Tamas - Illinois HC - Volleyball
Tyler Hildebrand - Long Beach St HC - Volleyball

I'm sensing a trend here....

Alvarez? Warren Powers maybe ? Who was the guy who left to be either a coordinator or head coach at ISU. Didn’t Barney get hired as an OC or head coach after being a coach at NU?

Barney was OC at UNLV after the house was cleaned in 2014

I don't know if that qualifies, but it's a good note nonetheless

Tim Beck has coached at some big programs, other than lateral moves I can't think of many. Don't know any on Frost's staff.
