Put hoops on the sides of barns, in driveways, made little boys dream of wearing that jersey with KENTUCKY on the front, made HS basketball the game in Kentucky, made other colleges in the state want to be just like Big Brother...and was the epitome of old school basketball. He's the reason we love our Wildcats and get on this site and rant and rave as we live and die with the Big Blue.
Coach Rupp Appreciation Thread

This thread won’t go over well with the woke posters.
According to some who watched "Glory Road", he was a racist. I, however, didn't get that from the movie.
I couldn't care less... Coach Rupp coached who he wanted just like Thompson at Georgetown coached what he felt comfortable with...it's just that simple. You think Thompson was a racist? This thread won’t go over well with the woke posters.
Did you really just post that?
Having Kentucky fans waving confederate flags should tell you the makers had no clue what they were doing. That is as accurate as Forrest Gump starting at Dartmouth.

He invented the fast break and created modern basketball.
Nothing more needs to be said.

SEC Network has a new series Southern Hoops and part 1 is about Rupp. It's on right now, I'm recording it. However, I think it repeats multiple times tonight.
SEC network started “Southern Hoops” tonight. Will be interesting the treatment he gets on it. Tonight will feature him.
We posted about that at the same time. I’m recording it too. I’m a sucker for sports documentaries
I sure did...now refresh my memory...how many White players did Thompson have? I really couldn't care less about that either.
So far good... he's actually being portrayed as a champion for integration
Well he did ask the black elevator porter to drink out of the same bourbon bottle as he was drinking from.
To answer your last question.....yes.
Never recall seeing a white kid at Georgetown while he was there.
I don’t have a clue. Nor do I care. I just was surprised you posted what most think but would never post it.
We're all woke unless we're all sleep posting on here. Not sure what being awake has anything to do with Rupp. This thread won’t go over well with the woke posters.
Professional basketball paid nothing back then. Those guys had jobs in the off season. You can’t compare players then to players now.
You're right... those guys were tough... unlike Lee bron who doesn't like contact
Yeah they probably were tougher. But it was a different time.
Well, his name is on the building in downtown Lex where the Cats play (and occasionally win). You don't get that unless you do a few things well.
