Sorry if already discussed, but somebody called in to KSR and asked about bringing Orlando Antiqua back(if Tony Barbee left) and Matt Jones had said, didn't know if Cal would ask him or even Coach O would accept.Don't know about the group but I would love to have him back.He and Cal made a great team especially in recruiting.I know he had some problems at South Florida so I didn't know if that had something to do with him not being able to return.

Idk its complicated with usf baggage. Dont think it will happen unfortunately.

People keep forgetting about happened at usf with him and his brother. I dont know if those sins are harsh enough for him not to come back, but it complicates matters

I'd say the recruiting had more to do with WWW and the Nike connections than it did with Orlando Antiqua. I could be wrong but just seems when Duke became the "Cool" school we went backwards, it was just coincidence its when he left.

Has Barbee been offered a job? I thought Joel was going to be offered the App. job? I was just thinking I wonder if Cal would bring on one of the fired SEC guys like Drew or Avery. They both have shown they can recruit. For Avery, he probably doesn't see himself as anything, but a head coach, but Drew is young. He did it with Barbee when he got fired from AUB, but of course, that was his former player from the Umass days. Be nice to get some new blood into this coaching staff. Maybe an up and comer. Anyone hear if Joel was thinking about taking the App. job or did he ever get offered?

Barbee has been mentioned not offered. Jalen Rose has only been considered by people on this board. He has no coaching experience.

I’d like to see him go after Jalen Rose again.
I was gonna mention that. There was some talk last year about it and then,it just stopped.I think he'd be great on the recruiting trail, not sure about his coaching experience though.

Jalen is making more by far at ESPN I’d figure. Coach O would be great to have back. Especially if it was his brother that did the misdeeds. Hell, Kansas kept Kurtis Townsend on staff and he’s on FBI recordings trying to put together a deal for Zion. Of course Self has texts and phone calls of his own. It’s funnu at his HOF dinner he had Gassnola and Gatto sitting with him. 2 criminals behind bars. Of course they say they are “victims”

I would bring in Pelphrey. He was top recruiter when at Florida and was on Alabama staff last few years.

They have some players. Would be great to have a Kentucky boy in the mix.

I don't know. I could be completely making this up, but I don't think Cal or Pelphrey like each other I have read before. Maybe not like but they aren't close at all. I don't know if that he is pitino and Donovan that side of everything or what. Like I said, I thought I read that before somewhere

Bring in the Sean McVey of college basketball to kick-start the offense

I've been saying this for the last couple of years. Cal and the UK program need Coach O back. Recruiting hasn't been quite the same since he left. We just aren't getting the right players for our needs. I'm not talking about the likes of Zion, I'm saying that we have had problems with talent evaluation since Antigua left. He really seems to be to narrow the focus to the exact players we need.
Honestly, I don't think Cal will win another Title at UK without him.

Duke never has been and never will be the cool school.

One thing beyond Cals control would hiring past offenders. My guess is Cal’s contract is locked three ways from Sunday over violations.

Even the governor fell after that last round of probation nearly 30 years ago. They’d grind up Cal like hamburger over violations and he knows it

I’m not why so many are worried about assistants. Cal calls all the shots here. I don’t think he takes any input from his assistants.

Recruiting and media attention proves you are wrong. But that's typical for you around these parts. :sunglasses:
The media slobbering all over them (they've always done that) and Nike sending them top recruits doesn't make them cool.

Rose is one of ESPN''s highest paid analysts at $3 million a year. He's not taking a large salary cut to work infinitely more hours.

It sure made them cool to top 5 recruits the past few years. I'm just saying, we can hate them all we want but Nike determined they were the cool school now.
