Coach Leach's comment about the kickers.....

Pretend you're Tyrus Wheat. You've been in the trenches gutting it out all game.

Pretend you're Woody Marks. You've been taking punishment and left blood and sweat all over the field.

Pretend you're Will Rogers. You took the team 75 yards in 20 seconds to set up a game tying field goal.

Do you really think these guys are going to be put off by Leach's comment? His comment was for those guys. You don't lose a locker room for making comments like Leach made. You lose a locker room for not making comments like Leach made. Not only does it help, but it's necessary.

I agree. When Leach publicly calls out the kickers, the players don't have to confront them in the locker room when they are pissed and crack eye sockets.

Leach did his job and said what everyone was thinking.

If the kickers have pride in what they do, they will invest extra time (hopefully starting when they landed in Starkville) kicking the ball more consistently (and not reading about their #17 BCS rankings).

Don't know if they still do it at halftime, but the ones who did the "kick for tuition" probably shouldn't show up for the tryouts.

Should he have said what he did? Does it really matter? Thoughts?
Have no problem with the comments after the game. We need to find someone who can consistently make FG. Thought the comments today were ridiculous.

Looks like we may need to get a stack of hurt feelings reports for people to fill out.

Has Lemonis ever done something like this?

He’s not the first coach to announce open tryouts. Won’t be the last.

You know, a coach who has a Natty. Did he say something publicly that essentially threw someone like Christian MacCleod under the bus for having a rather awful end of the season? Not to make a big deal of out, coaches says stuff, and Leach is a media guy, but still. If we score a couple more touchdowns in the first half of most games we lost then we would need open tryouts for kickers. Let's see if he recruits a dynamite kicker so we don't need open tryouts.

Watching the replay it was not his fault. The snap was bad and it didn't look like the ball was placed good. So I stand corrected.

I was actually waiting for someone to bring this up because I rewound it and there indeed was a bad snap and hold that just threw his timing off. I was talking more about the two kicks that Ruiz missed to the right

Complete bush league move... 1) throw your own team member under the bus 2) you are supposed to be an offensive genius so why did you even need FGs? 3) It's just a complete *******, douche move to find blame there. Don't ever cry about fans again because this was worse than any fan comment ever. 4) performance or lack thereof is a reflection of coaching... so if you say you don't have a player suitable for the position, YOU failed as a coach. not the player who didn't perform in the position.

Grow a pair honey

I guarundamntee you that Leach had players fist pumping in the locker room when he said that.

He might lose a kicker or two but he damn sure won't lose the locker room.
Thinking this guy did play high school or above varsity sports.

once again-you have swung and missed--do you ever get anything right? "it is better to have everyone think you are an idiot, than open your mouth and remove all doubt"
Not that I have seen. Only guy I've seen more consistently wrong is, "Let's go Brandon!".

Godfather, you could give every poster on this board $1 million from you would still have some bitching about not getting two, or why did you give it to that poster, or how did you get the money, or anything else their dumb *** could think of.

How long can you continue to call a 18 -21 year old, 300 lb, 6'5" guy a kid. Always wondered about that label.

It’s not a good look for the leader of your organization. Handle it behind closed doors.

If you want a contrasting approach…how many times has saban had kicking problems at bama? And how many times has he made snarky comments about it afterwards?

It would be one thing if the players were being idiots and screwed up by making dumb decisions but that’s not the case here.

You mean like when Saban said he wasn't asking his punter to play football, Just punt? Or when he told the press they could't just **** out another player because some were playing poorly? Or the famous **** through a ton horn comment about the defense?
Saban has had his share of presser explosions.
