NO way Schyer gets that job. If he does they will suck for a couple of years and replace him.

I just don't get the animosity for K getting a farewell tour? The range of allowable behaviors, according to many on this board, for anyone not associated with UK is incredibly narrow. Do you all judge people constantly like this in your personal life?
Roy leaving like he did actually did more harm than good if anything.

I'll be waiting to see if the same people on this board that criticized the Davis hiring at UNC as a "political correctness" hire will say the same thing should Scheyer get the Duke job.

Me wondering why Stephen A and the other media aren't playing on the same narrative they have the past couple of years when a white coach with no experience is hired over a black coach that is experienced.....

I am less concerned about guys on a message board compared to national media guys with an actual platform.

The ref's whistles are going to be super-sized this year. All the refs will be required to have their lungs tested like they do astronauts and any of them with a sub-par lung capacity for blowing 50 fouls on the opposing team at ear splitting volume only gets to work Div II games.

Think most are preparing for him getting the John Wooden treatment, meaning they will get very preferential treatment in the tournament this year.

Because he is a sorry individual just like his mentor bobby sorry *** knight that's why. Putting the Bagleys and williamsons in million dollar homes, giving dyhon's mother, who could barely read and write a $100,000 job at the university. Giving boozer's dad, who was a security guard, a high paying tech job. The ncaa doing nothing to him for playing Maggettee who was ineligible for taking money from myron pigge, when they made BYU forfeit 50 games because a booster gave a player a $5000 dollar car. There are a lot more. Those are just the one's that I thought of off the top of my head, that's why. I wish he would have left before this year coming up. Heck I wish he would have left 20 years ago. I have been sick of vitale and bilas slurping all over him, along with espn. That is why I no longer watch espn except when a basketball game or nfl game is on. Even when a basketball game is on, that I want to see if bilas or vitale are doing the game, I turn the sound down. I hate dukes coach, however you spell his name, just like I hate cheating *** john wooden. Whoever takes that job had better watch out, because when all that cheating duke has done for all those years comes out, they will be the ones that get burnt. Just like wooden, dukes coach will be protected, and some poor sole that had nothing to do with all that cheating will be the one burnt.

My question is who takes the mantle as the biggest phony in sports, once he retires?

Hopefully it's not a health issue, I'd hate to see that.

But I'm laughing my *** off at Jon Scheyer getting the job. Duke and uNC are going to drop significantly if they hang on to Hubert and Jon for very long.

It will be great when Duke starts K's final season 0-1 ... after we beat them in the Champions Classic.
Well half our team is already in foul trouble and we're 6 months away from the game! Going to be an uphill climb considering all the things that will be against us in that game!

When’s the last time a college basketball coach announced his retirement before the season began? I’m sure it’s happened, but seems that it’s not a common occurrence. Funny, everyone has been predicting this exact scenario
to play out for years now, possibly decades.

It’s all lining up for cal and U.K. to take center stage and dominate the next few years. With the good ole boy club gone (UNC and DUKE) UK can dominate again.
Hopefully you are not being serious. If this is the only way UK can dominate, maybe there is a more appropriate term to use than dominate. I remember the days when great teams wanted to go against their opponents' best, including coaches.

I believe Richie is saying the favoritism that those two programs had for 30 years, is coming to an end.

If that is what he meant, maybe he should have just stated it because it reads like someone glad that the bully on the block is leaving the neighborhood.

Also, I have no idea whether or not they like Stevens but good lord if they can't do better than Scheyer hahaha
They *could* do better than Scheyer, but I view this the way I looked at Hubert Davis getting the North Carolina job. Roy wanted Hubert to be his successor, and because Roy had so much success there, the powers that be let him have his way out of respect. Coach K is Duke basketball, so the Duke AD will also let him have his way out of respect
