I could be wrong, but I remember him as a backup WR. One of those guys who rotated in several plays a game to block on run plays. Might have been 4th or 5th team.I don’t remember him as a player at all because, well, he never really played. However, a ton of ex-football starters on those national championships spoke highly about Ryan and praised the hire. So the fact that he stood out to them as a walk-on, as guy who never really played, speaks volumes in my opinion. Guy is the humble, smart, classy, hard worker that Nebraska football stands for. Love the hire
Wasn't Held also the emergency quarterback for a few games - when Frazier was out, Berringer was banged up and Matt Turman was really the only healthy QB?I could be wrong, but I remember him as a backup WR. Coach Held was also the Hype Man before games, a tradition that he lead during warmups before games at UCF

I'm not sure, but I think that was the case.
Yes I know Held was a receiver by trade, but I’m not talking about a backup QB. I mean a player at another position who was going to have to play QB if one more got hurt.I believe you are thinking of Monte Christo. He was a QB from Kearney. His bio (http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=210400119) says he played the last two minutes of the 94 Missouri game when Turman went out with what appeared to be a separated shoulder. Up until that point, he was expecting to RedShirt that year.
Also according to Huskers.com (http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=210417155) Ryan Held was a Split End.
You are right. There was a video of all the quarterbacks in order if we had more injuries. Held was like the 6th option behind Turman and Veland and he said something to the effect of “i’ve never played quarterback in my life.” One of my friends knew him and we used to laugh about it.Yes I know Held was a receiver by trade, but I’m not talking about a backup QB. I remember the clip. It ran on College Game day. I guess I didn’t know that was Ryan who said that. You are right. There was a video of all the quarterbacks in order if we had more injuries.
