That OP is actually so awful I think I'm going to block everyone who liked it.

Thanks Gonzo. Coming from one of the worst posters on this site over the years I will take it. I thought this was a message board where people posted topics for discussion. I'm terribly sorry if I hurt your little snowflake feelings...

The difference between Coach Cal and becoming a great coach is what you saw in the Duke Louisville game last night. Duke was getting man handled and dominated until Coach K implemented the full/3/4 court zone. That threw everything UL was doing off badly. Probably the only thing that I can't stand about Cal is his refusal to make in game adjustments like this to disrupt the flow of the game for the other team. And save the "Well go root for duke etc" comments....I love my Cats, just like to see more from Cal on the in game adjustments to make it harder for other teams to prepare for us.
Of course. 1st ballot HOF coaches all suck. smh

You cherry picked one season to use against Cal versus... his entire body of work.

Cal is way, way above UK historical averages for (per year) wins, tournament wins, final fours, and championships, and you have the gall to talk about cherry picking?

Reading comprehension issues?

Cal is a great motivator. Great recruiter although he is losing a little lustre there lately. Offensively I think we could and should run more sets..Defensively we play man and we switch most everything...His stubbornness to go zone has cost us at least 2 championships and multiple other games including last night.
Total bull crap. Zone lovers have been responsible for some of the stupidest post I've ever seen on here. To claim zone cost us at least 2 titles is over the top and nothing more than a poorly educated guess. I have no respect for the opinion of anyone who will not acknowledge Cal is currently a great coach and has been for a long time.

This is the whole point of my post. A GREAT coach will find little adjustments like that to make or atleast try. Not saying it will work 100% of the time etc but it seems Cal is just set in stone with his man to man defense and will use it even if we are getting killed. Love him to death and don't want anyone else because I believe he has the personality and likability that it takes to be the coach here. But man oh man is he stubborn lol
Those same ridiculous criticisms were used against Adolph Rupp as well.

Zones are so easy to bust in today’s game. The only time they’re really ever used is by mid majors trying to beat far superior teams and the hope is they have an off night from outside. Look at Syracuse, boheim has had some really good teams that couldn’t win when it mattered due to that zone. Also zone prepares you for absolutely nothing at the next level. Syracuse has had several lottery picks and big time players become immediate bust in the pros due to their inability to simply guard someone. Johnny Flynn, fab melo, Warrick, Wesley Johnson and several more. Zones never been apart of cal and never will and it never should be. We’ve been in the top 10 in total defense probably every year but 1 or 2 since he’s been here.

You think not zoning Wisconsin cost us the title in 2015? Outside of kaminsky the greatest strength was outside shooting. The 2015 team was probably the greatest defensive team in college b-ball history. Anyone who has played competitive basketball hates playing zone, trust me. Zone makes you lazy, you miss block outs, you give up 2nd Chance points. Why do you think melo went to Syracuse?

Cal is a top 10 overall coach. He’s #1 or 2 in recruiting. Top 10 in player development and managing his team and one of the best at coaching effort in his guys. He’s also probably the best guy to handle the kind of pressure a job like Kentucky puts on you. That being said, he’s bottom quarter in game strategy and in game adjustments. If he was just top half he’d have 3 titles. All this adds up to a great coach who is really the best fit of any coach out there for UK. He’s not perfect, nor is any other coach but he’s pretty damn good.
There are over 300 division one coaches in America. To say Cal is “bottom quarter” in game strategy is straight up asinine.

I think missing Poythress guarding Decker hurt us the most.

Or you could make the argument that K had his team HORRIBLY prepared for that game. Why did he wait so long to press? Anybody who watched UL play FSU on Saturday could see that this team has nobody -- and I truly mean nobody -- who can handle the ball against pressure. Even more to the point, they have guys who run AWAY from the ball when the pressure picks up.

Everyone is going on about this Duke comeback. But the UL flaws were exposed in their "other" collapse Saturday against FSU. A "great" coach, as you've termed it, would have never allowed his team to get down 23 against a team that doesn't have a single ball-handler.
So Leonard Hamilton is the great coach. I can go with that better than this K drool

Definitely agree with that. These zone lovers seem to forget that also the 2014 team was without our best all around defender from the sweet 16 to the championship. WCS plays UConn doesn’t stand a chance. He could of guarded boatright and Napier handily. They kept screening with dakaris man and even with a hard hedge they were able to be him and the help.

I think it's important to recognize that Cal is very good at adjusting the system in which the team plays in a given year based on the personnel. However, he does (or does not) make several in-game decisions that are questionable. His player development and work as a defensive strategist are as good as any coach out there. I wish he'd make use of time-outs more and incorporate more offensive sets. With the athletes we've had over the last few years, I'm surprised the only team that has really stood out offensively was the Fox/Monk/Bam team.
This is spot on. His teams get so much better defensively, and that ain't because their AAU skills are kicking in. I do not like the half court offense at times. I don't have a problem with his use of TO's, sometimes it works sometimes it don't. It would be the same if he took timeouts. Good post!

anyone that calls someone a "snowflake", should lose any and all credibility

thanks man. Your opinion of me and my credibility really makes me lose sleep at night. I appreciate you voicing your opinion of my posts as if anyone really cares what you think. They make a mute button if you don't like me or my posts as well. It's pretty simple, you can probably even get help to learn how to do it. :sunglasses: Have a great day little buddy!

Offensively I think we could and should run more sets..

Not sure which team you've been watching. This year they run multiple sets on every trip that isn't a fast break opportunity. They're in the 200s in terms of pace and possessions per game.

Also this isn't directed at you but more towards @Cal-4-Three. I'm not sure what this entire thread is about. One of Cal's greatest attributes is his flexibility and ability to adjust to his team and play to their strengths.

Not only does it happen during the season but in most cases he starts over from nothing on a yearly basis and implements a new system. No two of his UK teams have ever played exactly the same.

You're being ignorant...SC ended up in the Final 4 that year so Duke lost to a Final 4 team.

Cal lost to freakin KSU in the Sweet 16 last year and IU a few years before that in the 2nd round.

I'm not being ignorant. Quit trolling the Ky forum and go crawl back up the Rat butt.

Losing to KSU and IU is a big difference than losing to freaking Lehigh. The point is K isn't perfect...BTW I posted a link from a pro Duke site that was talking about his worst losses to prove my point to some of the clueless around here.

Post count argument really? You do realize you had a low post count at one point right? Just because some of us don't live on a message board while living in our parents basement doesn't mean we don't post substance. Have fun at 3rd grade little buddy.
What I realize is you have "lived on this board" through the duration of this idiotic thread. Bait much? Parents basement? Don't pat yourself on the back with that one. Do us a favor and keep that post count low. Maybe a repeat of 200 some odd posts in the next 8 years...little toddler!

Coming from a tennessee fan I'll just ignore that. If you don't like what I post just ignore it. Little kid.
