Is Cal retiring after this season?
Why mention retirement in the statement?
Who in the university discuss this with him?
Why the fascination with Alaska?
Is he going off-grid after this season?
Why is Ellen now on IG?

Yea he didn't say he wasn't going to retire this April, then come out of retirement in August at UCLA. And was this a shot at Mitch by saying he had to talk to the university because Mitch wont answer his calls? Why be so cryptic Cal!? Now I wont be able sleep!

Because Cal is obsessed with that Alaskan Wilderness reality show that he and Ellen watch,

Now wheres all those UCLA fans who joined us for a little while today? Id like to hear from them.

Im thirsty...I need some UCLA tears...
UCLA doesn’t have any fans. Seriously they are one of the smallest fan bases on the west coast. We have fans from lots of schools who post here, but I can’t remember the last time I saw one from someone who identified themselves as a Bruin fan. Even here in PAC 12 country I see 25 USC fans for every UCLA fan. Stanford to. And their are plenty of Californians here.

I have a friend who lives out that way. He loves it. But then again, he’s very left leaning.

I’ve always wanted to go out that way to see it and visit Cali. Knowing my luck though the San Andreas would kick in.

Is it a nice place to visit?

It’s a good place to be when you’re single and in your 20s. L.A. sucks. The actual city of LA is terrible but when people say LA, there’s about 20 different cities they group in that. There’s way better places to go like Orange County and San Diego.

Good place to visit. No place to try and own property or raise a family without seeing your money just pissed away and the crazy amount of taxes, regulation, and traffic you deal with. Pro sports, Disney, the decent SoCal beaches, and good weather all the time are great though. Endless entertainment options but no thanks to owning a small ****** house for $700k or paying nearly $3,000 to live in a two bedroom apartment as a family.

Just like I said earlier who TF is VTgrad and why would he know what UCLA and Cal have planned anyway. It’s always bogus. You think aa university will say yeah let’s offer 12 million a year for 8 years. That’s the minimum it would take and in my opinion only UNC would be comparable.

My friend lives outside LA in the Valley and that’s “cheap” he has five roommates and works two jobs 80 hours a week to afford rent and food lol.

Yeah, screw that. I’ll take having yard and a nice house for a fraction of that and not deal with the crazy crap.

The idea of having five roommates seems like a nightmare. I wouldn’t have even wanted to do that in my 20s.

Bam... Check Twitter.. Someone Link it. Said he will retire at UK
On balance, we have the best coach on the planet. I am confident he will win another championship, maybe two or three before he is done here. His commitment to his "kids" is unbelievable and quite remarkable, and that includes his holding them accountable for actions on and off the court. His leadership of them, and of his great staff, is remarkable. Our beloved program is in extraordinary hands.

Next thing we might hear is coach k says:
"My plan and my desire is to retire at Puke. I think the university feels the same as I do and we’ve talked openly about it."

No. K would just say it directly. He wouldn’t use passive modifiers like “my plan” and “I think”. That type of speech leaves doors open.
Btw, this was all a salary move (and a good one) on Cal’s part. Of course he wasn’t going to leave for this.

I dont think it was for salary on cals part, I think it was UCLA trying to make their job more attractive. They definitely made contact with him tho as I'm sure they have/will with every other top coach sans roy and k.

I had 3 once in college and that was a lot. Only a 3 bedroom apartment though so 1 guy lived in the walk-in closet. He got a great deal though.

This.

The funny thing, is Cal's goal before here was to get to a blueblood/historic school. I dont have any links but after we hired the drunk and didnt call he was highly interested in taking the IU job after they fired Sampson and they wouldnt talk to him. Ironic the holier than tho hoosier program passed up on a truly great person, community member, and leader and they continue to be irrelevant. Glad we didnt make the same mistake twice.

Oh come on now remember that Watford shot? What about those back to back sweet 16s? None of that happens if they hire Cal. Can you imagine giving up those popcorn boxes for 1 little championship and 4 final fours? Besides now they got Romeo and they are back in the sweet 16 baby!

I’m going to guess LA is a little different experience for people with Calipari money. And our coach has Calipari money. That said, he’d never leave for that program.

Indiana will never be successful again as long as they have that attitude. They fired Sampson who was their best chance, then passed up on Cal. Some of their fans get the picture, but get bashed as Kentucky worshippers.

But wait, I thought there was "legitimate buzz" about this? Isn't that what some "media" sites were "reporting"?? (not directed at you JF)

I think this had more to do with UCLA making the position more desirable than anything.

This 100%. All it took was some false or “exaggerated” statements from the UCLA side to sports “journalists” and they were happy to jump on these speculations. It makes the job seem like it’s on Caliparis level (spoiler: it’s not) by having his name associated.
