Sounds like they're somewhat into production already. Can't believe this had been kept away from everyone for so long. I think this will be awesome for us.

Surprised the NCAA is letting this go down. Surprised they aren't shutting it down due to, "unfair recruiting advantage".

Lot of different takes for this.. Will it be about how he changed the recruiting game? Being that fatherly figure for so many of these recruits and his "family"? Our run towards perfection?

Good point. I'd guess it's either the one and done thing or just a portrayal of the love/hate people/media/players have for him.

Do you have any idea how badly that would go if ESPN lied to him and ran a 30 minute hit piece? One of the premier programs in all of sports and thats in a conference that has literally a billion dollar deal going with ESPN? Not to mention the NBA alumni we have right now and the NBA deal ESPN currently has going with the NBA? They would not do that. You're being really really paranoid, like irrationally paranoid.

Didn't even think about a 30for30 about just his polarizing character. That could definitely be it.

Man, I'd love it if we somehow went 40-0 this year, and the 30for30 was titled "Chasing Purfection", starting from the 2013 class, beating a team nearing perfection and going to the title game with absurd 3 pointers from Aaron, then to the hype for 2014/15, going 38-0, and the horrible let-down, culminating with this years team, which may be the most athletic and hungriest under Cal, winning the title to cap off a perfect season.

Lot of sports movies ended that way, where "next year they went undefeated" or some crap. I think Coach Carter, Friday Night Lights, and Remember the Titans ended like that.. Would be sick to see if in real life at a much higher level.

It won't be a hit piece, but there's no effing way ESPN lets him run a 2-hour long special promoting his brand. It will be somewhere in between, you can bet on that. Probably a mostly favorable take on Cal, but not without hiccups, and certainly not letting him use this as a recruiting tool in wake of Coach K and Roy'ss twilight years.

I figured he'd get one, but not so soon in his UK coaching career. I imagined they'd wait till he'd coached at least 15 or so years here and even further established himself. But this is great, and he totally deserves it!! I'm so excited.

Ok guys, I give up. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully after Calipari gave permission to the camera crew and director to follow him around for months and interview him and his players, gave them access to the inside world of the program and let him around his family, friends, and former players, they won't be too overwhelmingly negative towards him. :rolleyes:

Cal does so much good for his players and community that goes unreported and ignored. He gets portrayed as this sleazy used car salesman type when it couldn't be further from the truth. I think this 30 for 30 will show more of that side of him and get the truth out there instead of more of the same tired biases. It's going to make the haters' heads explode.

Wouldn't surprise me if they tell him one thing, but make it about something else. Got to take some heat off of Chapel Hill and help Coach K with his recruiting. They will for sure mention the Camby and Rose teams that had their wins and Final Fours taken away. Probably will bring up the relationship he had with WWW. I'm sure they will mention his great run at Kentucky, but throw in some cheap shots about players being forced out and either not getting drafted or dropping way down in the draft from where they were previously expected to be. I don't trust ESPN at all with their nearly blind support of all things Duke and North Carolina.

Why did you jump all the way to hit piece ? I guess you assumed I meant they would slander him the whole show but I didn't mean that and you should have asked before assuming . I meant blaming him for the two vacated final fours indirectly or just by association , without pointing out the fallacy in that thought process .

Maybe they will point out that Cal didn't know Camby had taken money from an agent and maybe they will point out that Rose wasn't even found guilty but also taking an entrance exam in Chicago . It's just as likely they will mention that Cal has had two final fours vacated and by that he would be unfairly portrayed .

Im guessing they'll show Camby again explaining his situation. Rose won't comment on anything at Memphis and Cal will do what Cal does. Overall should be enjoyable television.

What's your favorite 30 for 30? Mine was June 17 1994. Everything sports related happened that day but the most memorable was the OJ car chase.
