I hope this doesn't happen, but what is the possibility of Nebraska following suit of colleges and closing high schools for a couple of weeks, or even worse the rest of the school year? I know someone who lives in Iowa and said there is talks that their school might do that and maybe cancel spring sports. Imagine having to also cancel graduation.

The governor addressed this in his press conference today.

So far, most schools in the metro area have been using their spring breaks to close for a few days + spring break week, to buy some time to clean and see what comes next. But I've heard of several that were preparing to send packets/iPads/laptops home with kids to potentially close longer term and keep the learning going.

District/State Speech has been suspended, All-State Music has been cancelled, State FFA/FCCLA/FBLA/Skills USA/etc. have been cancelled.

It's getting interesting.

The governor outlined a plan today that basically says if a student/staff member/etc comes down with an infection that cannot be traced back to specific travel somewhere, that means the infection was picked up locally. When that happens they are prepared to close not only that specific school but all schools in the area for up to 6-8 weeks.

NSAA not totally ruling out spring competition just yet............

All NSAA activity practices and competitions are suspended through May 1. These suspensions may be extended should the conditions warrant.

Member schools and student-participants are expected to adhere to the NSAA Constitution & Bylaws and activity manuals during this time.

The NSAA encourages all member schools to follow CDC, local, state and federal health department recommendations.

As more information becomes available, official updates will be posted on the NSAA website and the NSAA's social media platforms.

I have talked to literally 100 different educators, coaches, administrators over the past couple weeks. There is not one that truly believes they will teach another class until next fall. That would mean no activities either. Absolutely the worst case scenario, I feel awful for the kids that miss out on a year (possibly their last year) of competition.

Couldn’t agree more Jimmy, wasn’t arguing against it just confirming how awful of a situation it has become.
