Sitting here watching Bama-UM from last year and even though they are metal bleachers, Vaught looks damn good closed in. We need something in that South end zone besides Chattanooga choochoo seats!

Yep. Gonna have to tear the M-Club building down though. And move the video board.

That would be an ideal place for premium seats though since you won't have the sun in your face. Just make the entire thing premium.

Gotta routinely sell out the stadium (and I mean actual butts in seats) before any expansion needs to happen again.

IMO the dressing room under the M club building need major upgrades. But, probably not worth it on its own, unless the entire thing is done.

This won't be happening for a while, but it will. When we do, I hope we take our time and get creative. We should do something that's original, and unique. We had a lot of copycats from what we did with the north endzone.

Our next major project in DWS needs to include renovations to have the East concourse mirror the West to get some continuity throughout the stadium. Also need to upgrade the West middle/upper decks to somewhat match the East upper levels before thinking about bowling in the other end zone.

Our capacity is fine at the moment. No need to make some hasty changes and end up with an unnecessary and half-assed expansion. Do it right in due time, just like the last one IMO.

You will get to see a lot of their stadium the next several years because it will be absolutely empty. Their stadium looks like it was designed by a committee and no one in the committee actually talked to one another.

It is the Frankenstein's monster of SEC stadiums. None of the premium box/club seating looks similar. I am amazed that they bowled in the stadium with metal bleachers. They will have to tear down everything they have "enhanced" over the past 20 years to make it right.

MSU did it right. Planned for the future and didn't overbuild. Also it looks amazing.

Don't forget where they built the pavilion. That is going to severely impact major expansion and renovation efforts going forward. Not only do they have a stadium that looks like it was designed by a 10 year old with an erector set, but they are stuck with it.

Not to steal the thunder of someone who posts here, but he was on campus one Sunday morning when our expansion was under construction taking a look at the progress when Strick happened to walk by doing the same. They started talking and he happened to ask about the other end zone, and Strick made a comment about what if we had that endzone match the other one? So at least at that time, that was the idea being kicked around on mahogany row for the next major expansion.

It's the typical OM thing to do. It's All about appearances. On TV to look at it your like "hey they bowled VHS in." When you actually see it in person you realize they "bowled it in" with 17'ing aluminum HS bleachers with no concrete underneath. It's the cheapest **** I've ever seen. And the space under those bleachers is 3 feet deep in trash and garbage that people just kicked back from above at the end of the game.

I didn't even think about the trash aspect. I bet it is disgusting by the end of the first quarter. What a cluster.

End zone lofts above about 20 rows of seats. Would be awesome.

I had this thought, too. I would love to see them make a small bowled in seating area along the bottom with a large viewing platform area for M-Club and Recruits. Scrap the current M-Club building entirely. Then build some sort of loft-type premium apartments. Set up loft space on the back side, too, for those who want to tailgate high above all others, like kings.

Thinking Cohen mentioned it in the extravaganza. He mentioned baseball (obviously), tennis (being the only sec school without indoor facility), the Hump and then DWS end zone.
May have mixed up the order.

Vaught-Hemmingway looks like garbage. It's like the ugly duckling grew up to be a hideous swan with a pig's *** for a face.

Isn't that OSU's basketball arena in their endzone?

I believe MSU is working with LPK Architects to complete a master plan of DWS in the near future.

I'm pretty sure it's their new basketball arena..but with a huge public concourse to watch the games. Something like this with seats below it would be great

Liberty Bowl stadium is nicer than vaught... we need to tear down architecture building, tin gym, and dorman hall. Gotta have better looking back ground scenery for when the GameDay crew arrives... We could build a Bad A** architecture facility and even let the students have some input and get to study it. Don't worry about funding i'm gonna win the lottery this week.

As a Rebel, I think the NEZ expansion is an awful, hurried up version of what should have been done. There needs to be a complete overhaul of VHS to make it look somewhat cohesive, at least on the outside. State's expansion looks great on TV. I haven't been to DWS since "Wallacing" happened, but plan to this year (because I obviously hate myself). I do kinda think the jumbotron with the seats under it looks silly. It looks like laptop. Other than that, it's awesome. I'm jealous that DWS looks like a stadium with somewhat of a theme.

It is tremendously louder now. I hope the money from the new endzone thing in front of the M-Club is put into a fund for a real expansion... those things look like garbage on the rendering.

It is and when you buy the sky box for the football stadium the other side of that box is the sky box for basketball. Two for price of one.

You can build that kind of stuff when one of your booster has a lot and I mean a lot of oil money.

As recently as 5 years ago you had a plan in place to pull down the west side press box and do something nice in its place. I'm not sure where that stands now that the pavilion sits 60 feet away. Within the next few years OM is going to have to do something with the facade of the south endzone. While relatively new, it is extremely discolored and is starting to buckle and warp. Looks cheap.

But nothing can be done with the north endzone. Nothing there is structural and the building's beneath it can't be modified without going to GREAT expense. Basically, yeah... that NEZ expansion was a colossal 17up.

I'm sure it will happen eventually

I don't know. I think college football game attendance is more or less at a peak and the improved tv options with continually escalating ticket/donation costs will continue to make it harder for game attendance to continue to grow, especially for places not located within easy driving distance of a booming metropolitan area.

My guess is that if we bowl in the South Endzone in the next decade or so, I think it will ultimately be capacity neutral, where we reduce a lot of capacity by adding chairbacks, and then add the capacity back with mostly premium seating in the endzone.

The original expansion was supposed to be a mirror of the SEZ. Those renderings looked awesome, but would have obviously been super expensive. I would have rather waited on the money to be raised and get something like that (or at least a concrete structure of some sort) than the crap they threw up. The only good thing about the NEZ is that it looks good from inside the stadium or an overhead shot when it's filled up.

This was drawn up by Populous (before the latest expansion was finalized) as a possible long-term plan:

I've always wanted us to build the left field lounge in one of our endzones. Can you imagine having a structure in the endzone below the scoreboard similar to what is being built right now at Dudy Noble but tiered higher and being able to tailgate there before and during the game? Those would sell out in an hours time. Could call it the endzone lounge. We'd be the only ones to have it, for sure.

Somebody with photoshop skills take the renderings of the new left field lounge spots and put them on Davis Wade up to the bottom of the scoreboard and up some on each side.

Have some of them as hotel rooms (albeit very expensive on game weekends) like the Skydome and provide a 24 hour concierge. You would sell out the rooms the rest of the year too, and it wouldn't be a stretch to staff it as they're already running the alumni house next door.

UM has been obsessed with trying to one-up us in with stadiums that they slap-dashed their last couple of expansions just to top our capacity as soon as humanly possible at the expense of functionality, aesthetics, and amenities.

At some point we do need to enclose but I'd rather take our time with it and do it right. The only thing that looks worse than a small stadium is a half empty large stadium.

Isn't the North endzone set up so another couple of sections can be added as bookends to the current second deck? I believe so. I don't really believe the stadium ever has to be bowled in, just make the endzone building and locker room first class.
