look at Samford pitcher Josh Martin, who leads the nation in wins. As well as a couple of other points about their staff.</font></span></p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 14pt;"><font face="Calibri">Martin is
12-1 with an ERA of 2.96. He started 16 games, pitched 103.1 innings allowing
104 hits. He has 90 strikeouts. He has walked 30 and hit nine. Teams are hitting
.269 against him.</font></span></p>

strikeout to walk ratio is very good at 3-1, but he is averaging a hit an

as a Sunday pitcher for the first half of the Season. Got the Saturday win
against Appalachian State – Samford’s only win in the three game regular season
series. The win against Oklahoma on was on Thursday, May 17 and the Sooners
beat Samford on Friday and Saturday. Started the Wednesday and Sunday Game in
the Tournament. The highest quality wins are without a doubt against
Appalachian State and Oklahoma and both came late in the season.</font></span></p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 14pt;"><font face="Calibri">If Martin is
the ace, I guess Charles Basford is the No. 2. He is 9-2 with a 3.96 ERA. Has
pitched 98 innings allowed 101 hits, struck out 54 and walked 36<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">. Basford did not pitch against Florida,
Auburn or Alabama and lost at Oklahoma.[/b]</font></span></p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 14pt;"><font face="Calibri">The Winner
against Florida was C.K. Irby – while he started the Florida game he has been
used mostly in relief – pitching in 27 games but starting only 3. Has a 5-1
record and a 1.53 ERA – 35.1 innings pitched – 22 hits, 29 strikeouts and 11
walks. Outside of Florida he was obviously used for about an inning, since he has only 35 innings, but pitched in 27 games.</font></span></p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 14pt;"><font face="Calibri">Irbygave up
one run in 5 innings against the Gators on May 15 (The day the a bunch of SEC
teams lost to mid-major competition).</font></span></p>

A big, hard-throwing, right-handed pitcher . . . came on strong at the end of last season . . . returns as a weekend starter . . . returns after being drafted in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

2011 (Junior): Appeared in 19 games, including eight starts on the mound . . . posted a record of 6-2 and an ERA of 2.76 in 58.2 innings of the work . . . struck out 45 batters, while walking just 17 . . . pitched two hitless innings of relief at Elon . . . pitched 6.0 shutout innings, allowing just five hits in earning the win at Auburn . . . struck out six batters and allowed just two runs over 5.0 innings at Furman . . . tossed 6.0 scoreless innings, striking out five batters against SIU Edwardsville . . . pitched 6.2 innings, giving up one run against College of Charleston . . . gave up just one run in 6.1 innings of work against Appalachian State in the SoCon Tournament.

2010 (Sophomore): Appeared in 19 games, including 15 starts . . . posted a record of 5-6 and an ERA of 5.72 in 78.2 innings of work . . . pitched 6.2 shutout innings, earning a win against Furman . . . gave up just one earned run over 6.2 innings in taking a win over UNC-Greensboro . . . pitched 3.0 innings, allowing just one run in a win at UAB . . . pitched 6.2 shutout innings in earning the win at Wofford . . . allowed just two earned runs in 5.0 innings of work, earning the win over Furman in the Southern Conference Tournament.

2009 (Freshman): Appeared in 23 games, including three starts on the mound . . . posted a record of 1-4 and an ERA of 7.57 . . . pitched 3.0 innings, giving up one run and striking out three batters at Alabama . . . earned his first career win, pitching 4.1 innings in relief and giving up just one run at Western Carolina.

2011 (Junior): Appeared in 16 games, including 15 starts on the mound . . . posted a record of 7-4 and an ERA of 2.45 in 88.0 innings of work . . . struck out 66 batters, the second-highest total on the team . . . pitched 6.2 innings, allowing just one run and striking out seven batters at Troy . . . tossed 6.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs at Elon . . . pitched 7.2 innings, allowing just one run and striking out seven batters against Davidson . . . surrendered two earned runs over 6.0 innings of work at Western Carolina . . . struck out a career-high 10 batters in 8.1 innings at Appalachian State . . . gave up one run over 8.0 innings against UNC Greensboro . . . surrendered just one unearned run in 7.0 innings against SIU Edwardsville . . . pitched 7.0 innings, giving up one run against Wofford . . . tossed 8.2 innings, giving up no earned runs against Furman in the SoCon Tournament.
