Y'all know I'll pick on Clinton football every chance I get. Darkhorses are the enemy. But! Your new coach has come in and had to implement a different culture. I think he will be competing for Championship this year and beyond. Think y'all should appreciate and support this guy.

No one is speaking bad about the guy just some think its a silly policy change and im one Lewis,Britt,Sawvel,Mallard never had a problem with this never was a distraction.....but like i said previously hey it is what it is

I think it's a good topic, I'm not for or against open practice. I just feel they're other avenues for fans to enjoy. Such as, 7on7's, jamborees, and scrimmage games. Some colleges that host high school 7on7 also have it coincide with big man camps. I'm sure players that attend the big man camps offer some observations they saw in 7on7 of a rival team that attended.Stranger things have happened in high school football as far as there being a plant from a rival team attending an open practice (think NE Patriots) (in Clinton's case WRH)I think we can agree there. If a coach has that type of paranoia I think its justified. At the same time if a known fan by the coach wants to see practice I really dont see the harm in that.

Whats stopping a Wallace coach(using your example) from coming to a game and recording Clinton's coaches signals and plays.....absolutely nothing......teams normally trade film anyway and with hudl and maxpreps you can look at formations see who key guys are etc etc......maybe it happens but i honestly dont think its that deep in 2A football that you need to try and Bill Belichick your opponents

Places like Clinton, Shelby, Crest, Lincolnton, and other small town teams typically keep them open the first couple of days because of tradition.

I absolutely get the first practice or two...after that players, coaches and parents .

Like I stated. I dont have a problem with it either way darkhorse. If the Clinton coach wants you to attend then I dont see the problem. If he doesnt he certainly has the right to bronco kick you out no matter the reason Lol.

Nothing, but using Wallace for example is not who you would have to worry about. I don't think anyone round here could care less how y'all practice. I think your coaches intention is focus.

If focus is the intention its silly to me....unless something has changed in the last few months i dont think we play football gsmes in empty stadiums....like i previously stated if you dont believe you can coach or keep the team focused with a dozen people watching whats going happen on a Friday night when you got hundreds watching.........i remember my first day of practice my senior year when we were defending state champs the bleachers were people watched from were filled l....media was there Earl Vaughn and the Fay observer walking around did we notice them...yeah but definitely wasnt a distraction

Who hasn’t appreciated and supported them?
My last post on the topic. Appreciation and support works both ways. I don’t care if you were Knox at Independence; Barnes at Richmond County, Mallard Creek, or Pasquotank or Pamilco County, open practices should not present any problems unless you’re paranoid or a control freak. I’ve seen a lot of high school football over all levels and this seems frivolous to me.Far to many real matters to be concerned about than 6-12 hardcore fans and yeas after the first week or so it’s just hardcore fans
Only thing I'm saying is be supportive and look for opportunities to have a positive impact on this situation. Probly wouldn't be a situation if y'all would let the pain and hurt go.

Not quite sure why you think this is a "Situation" i started this thread to find out how many other schools did this for my own knowledge this isnt a story in the Sampson Independent.....and to reiterate no one has a problem with Coach Johnson or his staff and its been said countless times were blessed to have him and they are doing awesome job with that being said you dont have to agree with everything someone does and still like them but good attempt to be funny or whatever you were trying to do....and now i think this conversation has run its course

Thats good the community is involved....i dont agree with closed practices especially here at the beginning of the season...thats how it always was out here well until new staff put a new policy in place....dont think they mean any harm but i believe they unknowingly put a gap between themselves and the community shutting everyone out or atleast the ones the like to go out and watch
This is when you went there. You did it last year. I know just like last year when Clinton starts putting W's on the board you'll be alright.

Suggestion for the CHS football coaches on how to conduct practice and deal with the community; same for other coaches/other sports/other schools: follow Brad Spell around for just one day, then wash/rinse/repeat.

Maybe that is why they are closing practices? What do places like Shelby and Crest do?? Just curious.
Shelby and Crest will always have open practices. To many fans want to come watch. Kinda like going to Spartanburg to watch the Panthers.

I know I posted what I was told, but if anyone wants to test it out, by all means. Who knows, maybe it was just “coach speak”.

I honestly don’t know how y’all find time after work to go to a high school football practice. Making it to a game on Friday night is enough for me.
