Close losses = Bad coaching

Worst team in my memory. Cal makes great calls, they piss on them.
None of this is Cal. He can't shoot wide open shots for them. They were all over-ranked. They all think they knew better. The stage was too big for them. It never sank in that EVERY TEAM IN AMERICA WANTS YOUR *** when you wear Blue and White. They didn't care. It's like a hooker who you didn't pay. She really prefers cash.

I wonder what this gang will tell their kids.

You take your chance with the hottest hand. Can't blame Allen for taking that shot. It was pretty wide open. What's to say MSU doesn't recover because Allen takes another dribble or two. If your season is going to end then you end it with your best shooter taking his shot whatever it might be.

Cant call it he perfect play call. It was an open look but with only one chance with a 40-50% success rate.
When you are down 1 and the other guys are in the bonus you have to drive it hard until stopped and give yourself 3 chances to score in stead of 1.

1. You make a close two
2. You get fouled and go to the line
3. You miss the close two with a chance at a put back

Add in the fact that the defense will alwasy overreact to the ball when time is running down so your chance at a put back on a miss are good. I put the pressure on the defense to stop the 3 chances vs. the 1 from 27 feet everytime. And I said so before the inbounds.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing

Askew 0 points 0 assists 0 rebounds in 21 minutes.

He had one fine defensive stop in the 1st stop-problem was it was intercepting a pass intended for Davion Mintz on a nice cross court pass for what would've been an open 3. But hey--it's only March 11, why would a player who started majority of season and played significant mins understand what his teammates were doing on the court?

Don’t think he turned it over and don’t think he took a shot. He did get beat once on defense but he was NOT the problem today.

Took that shot Ware got offensive reb and kicked to Mintz to put them up 5. He was terrible in the 1st Half in his mins but agree he wasn't the reason they lost-but he wouldn't have been court late in game when you have a horrible record in close games in the last 4 mins. At some point try a different group---if you keep leaving him in and they keep losing, it's on you for not at least putting someone else in--may not help but will never know now.

Coaching on this game, I don't know. We got punked and outworked on the glass in the first half. Then we came out and made adjustments and got them on their heels. Getting almost doubled up on the glass and shooting less than 60% from the FT line is not coaching. Cal has made many mistakes this year but this is on the players just as much.

1. I remember Clarke giving them 2 line violations and the guy makes the 3rd FT and I thought I bet that 1 point somehow looms large.

2. DA had an FT on the technical and misses it.

3. Ware went 1 of 4 from the line.

4.Mintz missed the front end of and one and one which is like a TO.

5. Shooting less than 60% from the Free throw line and getting outrebounded by 16 is effort. Any of these very basic gimmie plays ties or wins the game. I can't see coaching on this one.
