Cliff has a nice shooting stroke. Unless he starts putting more arc on the hook or chip shots from 3 or 4 feet, he might as well square up and just take a short jump shot or make power moves to the basket and slam it home or get fouled.

Shooting those 3 or 4 foot shots on a line drive like he has been doing, only makes it about a 20-30% chance of going in.

Unless he drastically improves he is not going to come close to playing in the NBA and for those who were worried he was leaving early not a chance; unless he dunks the ball no chance
Even the other night when he came out against Iowa Reiber came in and threw a beautiful pass down low to Harper for an easy layup Cliff comes back in and tries to throw the same pass and he threw it right to the Iowa defender he has no hands and also really very little basketball IQ unfortunately on defense

His hook has been a liability. Until he gets that down cold, he needs to kick it out when he doesn't get a clean look.

When Cliff touches the ball anywhere not within dunking distance, our chances of scoring on the possession are low.
Jump hooks, line drive shots and non- functional passes result in low scoring output.

We need him to develop in the post. Part of the problem down the stretch was that we made nearly zero effort to get the ball inside. Reiber does not appear to have any post game at this point. We settled for the 3 and unfortunately not enough of them went down. His jump hook seems to consistently come up short off the front rim.

Most of the time Dean won't have the size advantage in the post. Not sure how much we want to iso Dean in the post but we could throw it in to him just to work inside out. He's a good passer

Been saying this for a couple of years, Hayne just isn’t getting the job done, it’s clearly obvious.

Can’t shoot except dunk. Misses gimmies. No real post moves. Not great hands. Excellent hops for rebounding. Still foul prone. Work in progress.

At this point in his development, he seems to be a better offensive player facing the basket than with his back to the basket. He has a nice stroke when shooting facing the basket. He does need to improve his hands catching the ball and passing the ball. Also, teams have seen enough tape of the allyoop dunks from earlier this season. They have now become low percentage passes/shots.

He's made huge strides this year and is starting to hit his jumpers sometimes and get better rebounding position (although still inconsistent on that), plus he's fouling a lot less. Still needs to finish better and work on securing the ball in his hands better - the former is easier to improve than the latter, IMO.

He has made huge strides but he has a long way to go has no touch around the basket no basketball sense on defense no passing touch and hands of concrete

His lack of offensive skills away from the basket would be more tolerable if he had some passing skills.
Going inside out against a collapsing zone can create mid range high percentage jump shots, and leaves him near the basket to get offensive rebounds.

Cliff is wonderful on the boards and for a few jams

But he was part of the reason we lost due to his offense yesterday

He has to work on the short shots and there is no excuse for missing layup after layup

He was the best defender on the floor against Iowa, and that his saying something because everyone played lights out D in that game. Cliff was Ricochet Rabbit the way he jump out to stop dribble penetration and quickly got back to prevent a pass on the role. I have never seen him better. Reiber was okay, but he let guys get away from him a couple of times. The big difference between the 2 all is that Reiber does not pose a blocked shot deterrence down low or rebound well. I know that he had the block on the perimeter against a small guard yesterday, but he does not alter shots like Cliff does down low.

Cliff still rebounded much better than Reiber yesterday also. I don't think that he played perimeter D very well when he switched a couple of times though. He plays too small by keeping his feet back too far and bending forward. He presented a low profile for Willis who shot right in his face. If Cliff stepped up closer and played a little higher, he would actually be in position to contest or alter that outside shot.

Cliff also had a bad game on the offensive end yesterday. His handle was worse than usual and he was a black whole when the ball went into him. He forced several bad shots up when he could have kicked it out to someone that was open. His tip or put back attempts where wild slaps at the ball, where he needed to actually grab the ball and go back up or pass it back out.

Cliffs off season dilemma is going to be is staying at Rutgers where the focus is not on developing offensive game the best thing for his future? I think everyone knows the answer. He’s the perfect early G League player.

Really impressed by cliffs development this season. Unfortunately, we need to accept the fact that his offensive game needs another year of refining. The sky truly is the limit for him. Any talk of NBA was just standard message board hyperbole. Every fan base out there thinks their 4* recruit will declare early when in reality there’s like 10-15 guys per class with actual 1 or 2 and done potential.

Cliff’s slower progress on the offensive end is the same problem most of our team has missing 4-8 footers , the failure to use the backboard. Make a move gets you close to the basket and use the glass. It is a lost art and drives me nuts. It is not just Cliff, it is Paul and Caleb and Geo and Aundre . Only Ron tries to use the glass. That is one way to improve Cliff’s 2 point shooting %.
Secondly , Cliff has a good stroke and doesn’t get encouraged enough to take the 10-12 foot jumper. He would be a good pick and pop player with Paul probing and it doesn’t always have to be an alley oop . He also doesn’t have to try to alley oop or dunk on some of those wild passes. If he just controlled the pass first, stopped , then went back up , he will have scored even more this year.
Cliff is developing this year , but his flat hook shot needs more arc and more use of the glass. He has come a long way both offensively and defensively with a lot more upside in both areas

I wonder what Cliff's shooting percentage is on face up shots this season. Feels like it's 50% or so... he hits them pretty regularly

He has not been playing basketball that long. Compared to last year he has improved immensely. Just needs to slow down and work on his ball catching skills.

You can see he is still thinking too much.

The Iowa game was Cliffs best game switching off on D.

Learn a finger-roll, Cliff. And pair it with learning to be automatic from the foul line because you will collect free throws like crazy with a nice finger roll instead of those hooks. Use your speed and nice first step to reach around and over players with the finger roll.

Thankfully, Cliff is the classic student/athlete. If he were simply a basketball player that only cares about hoops 24/7, then he'd be a strong candidate to leave for the G League.

The opportunity to thrive in the classroom as well as on the court motivates Cliff everyday.

Watching him last year as being a foul machine, I was very concerned about this year. He has made tremendous strides in some areas. I sure the offensive side will come. I do remember some posters commenting that his offensive side needs some work when he first committed.

I've been saying this since last year. He has very weak hands. He cannot catch or rebound with 2 hands. Many many times the ball is ripped from his hands by much smaller player or he fumbles the ball because he cannot jump and rip a board at the same time. May also be a coordination issue as well
