I am a Cleveland State fan that will be going to the game on Wednesday. I attended the game when we played you at Rupp 3 years ago. We actually gave Kentucky a good game that day, leading most of the game before the Cats won 68-61. You won't have any worries this time. CSU is god awful this year. Our only decent player, Demonte Flannigan, is dealing with some sort of heart issue and has not played yet this year. We have absolutely no size. No good big men at all. I expect you to win the rebounding battle about 50-24. Final score Cats 107, Cleveland State 61. I expect Calipari to play the tape of the last game when we played Kentucky and you guys to come out playing hard and dominate from start to finish.

I can;t wait to be in Rupp again, one of the true Cathedrals of college hoops. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Any great restaurants or bars around campus that are must sees? I'm driving down tomorrow and staying overnight
If you like pizza give Joe Balogna's a visit. One of my favorite pizza places ever. I would take a lap around campus as well, it's being completely renovated and modernized and is beginning to become the beautiful campus the Commonwealth deserves. Cheers.

I graduated from UK in May and took a job in Cleveland. My girlfriend goes to Cleveland State. Had no idea these two teams were playing until a few days ago. Too bad its a 1pm game.

Thanks for posting here. It's refreshing to see an opposing fan post respectfully after that moron Syracuse fan showing what a complete clown he is. Good luck to your team and happy holidays.

I haven't lived in Kentucky for over 13 years now but invariably when you ask for a restaurant recommendation people say Joe Balogna's for whatever reason, even though its about as mediocre as it gets, especially if you live in Cleveland. I was in town for Keeneland a month ago and we went to a restaurant called Tony's that was very good, but pricey. Otherwise Tally-Ho was a good college spot (great hangover food - burgers and tater tots type stuff) and Pazzo's is a good atmosphere.

Thanks for posting OP and welcome to the BBN. Prayers for Flannigan!

Cal hasn't settled on a firm rotation yet and you'll probably see various combinations of players.

Welcome and I hope you get to enjoy your trip, but not too much....[winking]. Sorry to hear that about the player. Also, maybe you could give lessons to other visitors to this site who are fans of other teams.

Welcome to Lexington and have a great time. Pies and Pints across the street from Rupp has lots of beer and good pizzas. Is my memory correct that Jerry Tarkanian used Cleveland St as an example for NCAA and KY. He said "The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky they are going to put Cleveland State on probation." Pretty funny. Good luck.

I remember that game from a few years ago. Was sweating bullets and bit my nails down to bloody nubs. Hope we can win more soundly this time but otherwise, thanks for the classy post and enjoy your time in Lexington

Also best wishes to the Flannigan kid. Heart issues are nothing to mess around with. Basketball pales in comparison.

Tony's is fantastic, and it's right across Triangle Park from Rupp. Very good steaks and seafood.

Yup. I'd say Pazzo for good beer and food.

Coming out flat isn't going to be a worry about this team. They seem to have the same hustle for Duscuene as they did MSU. Can they maintain this through the season?
I think so. It looks like their hustle is effortless. Cal doesn't have to get them jacked up to get them to play hard. This is becoming one of my favorite squads........

sorry, that you guys are about to get hammered by the NCAA for all the shenanigans at UNC and UL...you may get the death penalty.

I was looking through your roster - does Brad Calipari have any relation to the head coach?
why yes, he's our most important recruit [winking]

Brad is Coach Cal's son - he's a walk-on who's here more to learn the coaching game than to play. His deciding to attend UK has guaranteed Cal is here at least four more years :sunglasses:

I'll also put in a good word for Pazzo's. Very good pizza and a nice atmosphere and a size able selection of beers.

I remember that game a few years back. It was torture! Enjoy yourself while in town!

This is truth for me . Anytime I go to visit relatives I eat white castles like 6 times in 2 days or more. Here in Florida we have Krystals and that crap is garbage compared to WC. White castles and Blue grass brewing company are my favorite eaterys in Louisville. I remember when Harold and Kumar came out I thought " those dudes get it!" .

Yep...WC is 100x better than Krystal.

:( They moved the Ho to a new location and I haven't been to the new incarnation yet but I hear they killed it---not just reeled in its mojo like when they cleaned and remodeled it early 2000's but really killed it. Caveat emptor.

It's true Pazzo's is great pizza, sort of progressive french bread style pizza. Joe Bologna's is really the only truly iconic place left around campus if you're talking restaurant. (Two Keys if you're talking pub.) Joe B's is fancier than the name sounds, built inside an old stone church with stained glass windows.
