Good Stuff....

Just finished watch8ing, hes straight talking . Loved this interview

Just finished watching, hes straight telling it like it is, .... . Loved this interview

I copied the video at this point below, he said it perfect, so many people (athletes) in and around Shelby had the talent to do what he did but those streets caught up with them, all of us in CC would fill up both hands with names of athletes that he is speaking of....I never was, but after listening to him, I am a Spikes fan. REAL talk of our communities around Shelby and Boiling Springs .. When he was speaking of the little league and the red stripes man that brings a smile to my face...

💯💯💯

he’s a real one. At SP this year one of their fans cornered me and Wayne and was in a tizzy over how Spikes was. That was years ago but he was still in his mind.

I remember SP was at Crest. Someone had a bullhorn talking trash. Spikes destroyed someone and got up and gave them the double Earl salute. 🖕 🖕that one. And he went to talking. Flags few everywhere

We’ve witnessed so many great football players from around here. He says it best. Better than him.

We’re so blessed in that way. My goodness at the players I’ve watched play in this County. From all four schools. It’s truly crazy if you really think about it

He was younger than me but I remember him being on the pee wee team at Number 3 when I was on the Midgets and he was as big as most of the guys on our team. I wonder how many times they asked to see a birth certificate. He did not have the body mass but you could tell he was going to be huge.

I remember going to West Charlotte and they lined up in the 'i". They snapped the ball and Spikes drilled the fullback straight back into the tailback. Thy both went down. The fullback got up after laying there for a few and headed towards the sideline.

The coaches were waving for him to go back and he flat out wouldn't go back. He was done.. I'll never forget that.. He told them NO.

I agree I think you all do…it works both ways…we know the SP kids cheered and jumped up and down in the locker room when Cramer lost to Hibriton…kinda hard not to reciprocate that kinda hate…don’t you think? Wait according to your responses, I’m not sure you do think but that was used in a different context…
I highly doubt people were jumping up and down upon hearing that news. The only thing sp cares about is if you line up against them. They aren’t worried about 4a playoffs during their own playoff run. For over 50 years….Things aren’t run like that there.

I’m sure he was a good player, and this one walked right in as a 15 year old Sophmore and took that spot from whoever the next great FB was going to be, and you know why because he was by far the best kid to put in that position in your offense.
You know little or nothing about sp football if you think that. You seem to be equating his playing a year at SC and coming to start for SP as a badge of honor. That hasn’t happened before, and he was probably the only fit where it would’ve worked at all last year too. He fit a slot…and the slot was filled. Truth be told….probably other personnel changes/decisions make that great team better including that position.
this fullback is one out of the last 13-14 of them who avg 6-6.5 yds per carry and get 20 plus carries per game. When you play at sp and regularly play in the playoffs that means you WILL rush for 1700 yards if you get those 250 plus carries. Don’t matter who it is. Go look it up.

I’m not doubting your stats are exactly right (those are facts). I’m saying this kid walked into the building as a 15 year old Sophmore and won the job and has done a great job since he has been there. This is also a fact.

I don’t take it as a badge of honor. I know there are plenty of Cramer kids who could start for SP and vice versa. I just feel you don’t like giving this kid any credit and I think he deserves it. Not saying other kids on the SP team don’t deserve credit because they do as well. Just because I give him credit that isn’t taking credit away from the other deserving kids.

I wasn’t in the locker room and you must not have been either because I heard this from multiple kids who were in there. So obviously they do care. Maybe things aren’t run today like they were 50 years ago.

Saw spikes once hit a golden lion on Shelby’s sideline and the poor child went through the bottom of the aluminum bench and appeared to be momentarily stuck.
spikes stood up and looked at the entire bench and although none of the crowd could hear, spikes had something to say to the entire sideline. I have never seen 50 kids and coaches all look away like they had not seen or heard anything going on and left that one boy to struggle himself out from under that bench.

funny part is I think Shelby won that game (06 maybe?). Crest had offense that year.
Yea aight lol

In order to win a job...you have to have competition. I have never heard that there was another FB in the running, and I don't think there was a backup to be honest. They usually bring up JV backs to be backups.

So he was that much better than the next guy that was there? Or are you saying the coaching staff did not have a competition and just gave him the job? Or are you saying the coaches did not have the right guys in the right positions and if they did he would have not have been the starting FB?

I am worn out talking about this.
But- synopsis: SP wins second round football game against a defending (albeit 2a from previous year) state champion and has a chance to play Crest again and attempt to get retribution from the earlier year game in the 3rd round of 5a playoffs....and you think anybody in Belmont (including SC folks) were talking about /thinking of / discussing a (now) 4a playoff game involving SC and HIbriten?

I will tell you this- your souce(s) must be band members, soccer players, disgruntled students who were kicked off the football team - type sources because nobody in the entire town of Belmont knew anything other than what was going on at Lineberger Stadium. Maybe the announcer or somebody said it over the speaker like they always do regarding neighboring counties/games occurring and there was some reaction. I can only imagine this sequence as described by you: Player(?)(s) come in and yell 'SC got beat' and people cheered and jumped around.
If that would have happened in any of those 50 plus years of SP football, the entire locker room probably would've been dismissed from the program immediately.

They (multiple) are on the team this year and start. However it isn’t a big deal. By the way SC has only been around since 2013. Hasn’t been around for 50 years. Just trying to get started like most schools that are only 13 years old with a 2nd year coach.

If you’re tired you don’t have to respond. The way this back and forth got started was Shutdown posted a highlight reel of one of their offensive lineman against SP. I said, you should have ran the ball more (totally in reference to the highlight video) not saying that would have changed the outcome of the game (I don’t think it would have). You respond by taking a shot at KM and Cramer and then I take up for Cramer. You take up anytime you feel like SP is slighted even when they are not. I take up when someone slights Cramer (95% that is you). It is the circle of life…well not really, but it is the circle of this board.

Big B was an enforcer on the basketball court also. Crest had him on the court as a power forward to inflict maximum pain on the other teams’ players. It was hilarious. He knew how to get the opponents rattled, fans included. He was like Dennis Rodman, throwing his hands up after every time he was tangled with a player like he didn’t do anything at all and players jumping up ready to fight. The thing I admired most about him is he was determined to play linebacker in college but many schools were recruiting him to be a defensive lineman. He stated that he was only going to play linebacker, completely changed his body from his junior to senior season, and improved his speed on top of that. He was a naturally big framed kid so that wasn’t easy to do.

Spikes was amazing at taking charges, which is even more impressive considering I could probably try to run him over with my truck and the truck would probably sustain more damage.
