Crest Middle has really good size across the board at almost every position.

Crest vs Shelby may not be the fireworks that some are expecting. I believe this game is going to be a grind it out defensive type of game. Both defenses are good especially in the front seven. Running will be a chore. I give Shelby’s secondary a slight edge over the Crest secondary at the moment. I believe this game will come down to special teams and turnovers. I hope this game is streamed so I can watch it later.

Well Dr. Rulz, I have my theory.
I'm not one to stir the pot (heheheehhehe) but I can only assume it is all quiet on the western (Crest) front because they watched inside the stable.
I heard some things. I heard a lot of old coach speak. I heard that they (the program) takes what the community has and plays. I heard he adapts to what the personnel is (somebody might need to clue him in on yall's recent personnel improvements). I have known this era/age coach. I like him a lot. Unbelievable career and guy to have running your program.
BUT...... I can't wait to see both sides of the ball for Crest ... especially offensively. Coach Wilbanks... you sure you want to retire right now?

Best High School rivalry in North Carolina and it is not even close. Should be a good one.

It is the best rivalry in NC.

Others claim theirs are better.
And due to geographical close proximity and long histories, those do matter. Good for them.

But while fighting neighbors is one thing,
fighting neighbors that CONSISTENTLY play at the championship level of high school football that this rivalry has for the last THIRTY FIVE years is fully unique to this Crest-Shelby annual matchup.

27 State Championship Titles and several more State runner up appearances define these programs in that time frame.
You will not find any other rivalry remotely as accomplished.

This year, a defending State Champion versus another defending State Champion.
And this is not the first time.
Same county. Almost 60 years rivals.
Show us that anywhere else in NC football history?
So rare.
But we get to enjoy even the matchup EVERY YEAR.

Soak it up.
