I am also sure you are just picking on “little brother”, but seriously who is Shelby supposed to beat in playoffs. Their enrollment puts them in 3A (not their fault). I know Cramer has taken a little grief from some people in our area because our #’s shook out at 4A and we were like 20 students short of 5A. Maybe I am naive on this subject but I thought the NCHSSA took the enrollment of each school and broke it down top 32 teams (8A), the next 64 (7A-2A) and the bottom 32 (1A). So you’re saying that the schools had a choice? This is the first I am hearing about this.
You can petition to play up. Cardinal Gibbons did.
Every Catholic Private School getting to play public school should be forced to move up at least one classification but that is an argument for another day.

Honest question, why would any school petition to play up? What is the reasoning? This thread has given 2 examples, and I expect there may be more, but that leaves the other approximately 450, other high schools that said, "No thanks, we are good."

Cardinal Gibbons was supposed to be in 6a. They are located in Raleigh around alot of 7a schools and did well in non subdivided 4a so it wasnt going to hurt them to move up.
Hunter Huss petitioned to move up 4 years ago so they could stay in a gaston county league.
I dont think Reidsville petitioned to move up i just think they had an amended adm numbers.

Certain schools should petition up. Shelby might not be in that horrible conference if they petition up to 4A. I know Middle Creek should have as well. All these schools around and they are riding out to Johnston Co for conference games.
Burns is 4A and they are in that “horrible” conference you speak of so I don’t think that would have mattered.
they want to monopize rings, who knows maybe CC was trying to catch a ring by having a school in every class.

Glorified JV….I will leave Shelby out of this, but how many 5A teams beat Reidsville last year? I think Crest would but that is the only school I would have complete confidence in doing so.

Reidsville is another all star rec league team that plays soft until the playoffs so they can stay healthy. They're both the same, just super midgets manipulating schedules and leagues.
They played Northern Guilford and Reagan last year. However this is the CC board and I am not a Reidsville guy but there are several 3A/4A teams that can beat 5A teams (not Crest

I hope he doesn't mind me sharing, but Sausages new tooth is arriving by way of USPS this week. No longer will he have to gum his mayonnaise sandwich into liquid form, he will actually be able to chew his food now.

And 2 of the teams I left out you beat by a combined score of 112 to 7. Bottom line little 3A is just not very impressive.
