Clemson looked like an FCS team against LSU. They looked smaller, slower, less well coached and generally grossly overmatched.

I have no real love for Clemson, but that game surprised me. Dabo is going to have to pull out a 10 win season somehow if he wants to stay around. On the other hand, firing Dabo would be the most expensive buyout in college football history. Clemson pretty well permanently hitched its wagon to Dabo, at least until the end of this contract. Things are going to get interesting and ugly up in Pickens county.
Dabo needs to spend some of that money on a QB if he wants to hang around.

Thought the same. I was telling a friend it looked like LSU was playing a D2 team. Clemson still owes Dabo like $60M so assuming he's not going anywhere.

Tyler from Spartanburg will likely grill the clemson coach for this disintegration.
I'd be interested to see the level of Dabo's defensiveness when asked again about making a million dollars a game putting that product on the field.

unfortunately or fortunately depending where you stand, Clemson is in a tough spot. Dabo won two national championships, he brought them back to national prominence, probably the best era of clemson football, they were an elite program up until a couple of seasons ago. Now they are far from it, for various reasons. They increased his compensation package due to his success and so essentially Dabo can't lose. I don't follow Clemson much at all, but from what I see, he swung and missed with some of the more recent hires and has struggled to adapt to this new era of college football. But that's not hard to understand either when he was so succesful in the previous era before NIL/portal.

That team produces 9 Draft picks, and replaced them with the 25th recruiting class. We signed 4 fewer players and ranked 10 classes higher. Also, Shula broke Sellers's psyche before that game and we didnt have an OC. Last season Carolina is illustrative of Shula being a crap coach more than anything.
Mike Shula, still can't understand how he keeps getting coaching jobs!

None of that means anything unless we've run a simulation on Madden.

Dabo hiring Chad Morris. Let's look at his resume. Well, he was at Auburn, he got fired. Then he went to Arkansas. He got fired. So, then Dabo hires the defensive coordinator from Penn State, who was fired along with Franklin at Va Tech. Then Dabo hires Nick Eason who was dl coach at Auburn. Auburn was on the precipice of firing Nick Eason, but Dabo rescued them by hiring Nick Eason. Then Dabo hires CJ Spiller as running backs coach because he played at Clemson. Had not experience at all. Look at the running backs at CU and that tells you everything. Before all this half of the defensive staff along with analysts went with Venables to Oklahoma. All this along with the refusal to take players out of the transfer portal has Clemson where they are now. Dabo is not going anywhere because Clemson is not going to pay the large buyout and he knows it. This is just the tip of the iceberg along with a lot of players having the entitlement attitude, coaches not giving players a chance to play because they had their favorites. CU will not win the ACC. Wait and see. Last week I predicted Clemson would lose by 40. They lost by 41. Came close wouldn't you say. Clemson does not have the players to compete with LSU'S scout team much less any team with a lot of good transfer portal players. Kiffin said their scout team was better than what Clemson had on the field Saturday night. Long season as they say and we shall see how things play out.

Dabo lost his mojo for hiring assistants. For quite a while there he almost couldn't miss. Everything he touch turned to gold as far as assistant hires.

Again, NIL killed Clemson football (Auburn and FSU too). Once they lost their recruiting advantage, paying players, their talent dropped like a rock.

I think Clemson is going back to being an 8-9 regular season win program.
