All tOSU needed to do was win big. They made it too close for comfort for the committee

I still believe they are one of they 4 best teams in America.... but you can’t lose to a team like Iowa.

You can lose to a team like Iowa and still make it. Clemson lost last year and this year to teams worse than Iowa. You just can't get beat by any team like they did against Iowa. B10 will be the first to start talking about playoff expansion which is good.

Good to see Ohio State left out for the reason they got in last year over Penn State.

OU UGA will be a great game.
Beat me to it. Karma is a *****, huh, Ohio State?
I disagree with Alabama for the same reason that I disagreed with Ohio State last year, although I'm happy for fellow Monongah High grad Nick "Brother" Saban.

I think the 5 Power Conference title games should be the de facto national quarterfinals, then let the committee decide which Power 5 champ will NOT play in the Final Four. (If Notre Dame wants considered, then join a Power 5 conference full-time.)

As I said last year and all this season, if you finish 3rd and don't make your own conference championship game, why should you be among the top 4 teams in the country when you're #3 in your own conference?

But it couldn't happen to a better team. You live by sword, you die by the same sword.

Too bad Wisconsin threw an interception on its final drive. Otherwise, Whisky would be in and Alabama out and all would be right with the world.

At least I have TWO teams to root for in the national playoffs, the Big 12 champ and the guy who quarterbacked Monongah High to the 1968 West Virginia state high school football championship.

Maybe they'll meet for the championship.

By the way, Clemson could pull an Alabama and become a national title dynasty. There are only six seniors among the starters for Clemson on this year's team. So next year may be another Clemson national playoff team, too. That would be three consecutive possible national titles for Clemson.

You got it wrong again. So did the committee. There are about 8 teams that are coin-tosses when they meet, though. I'm happy for Brother. But I still think that the choices should come from among the 5 Power 5 conference champs. As I did last year. I'm consistent, even when the team isn't named Ohio State. Brilliance will do that.

...and there’s why the current format still sucks.

Should be champion from each P5 conference and the obligatory guess at that three other best teams.
By your says team though:

Clemson
Ok
Georgia
Ohio st
USC

Bama
Wisconsin
UCF? Miami? TCU?

I think this year makes a case for 6 best with byes for 1 and 2..... but 8 is too many because the talent drop off is really there then. USC, TCU, UCF, and Miami..... not top teams

I don't think they are one of the best 4 teams in America. In fact, I don't think they are any better than Penn State or USC. I don't think Wisconsin or Miami are top 10 caliber teams.

I really want to see OSU vs USC in a bowl, that will be a fun game.

Eight may represent a droffoff of talent but that makes sure the best team is actually included. More importantly byes don’t make money and without that incentive playoff expansion just doesn’t happen.

That was my top 4.

The order I had was

1 Oklahoma
2 Bama
3 Clemson
4 Georgia

I base my order on who beat you and by how much as the primary

The secondary was who did you beat and by how much.

I think Oklahoma will win the whole thing because they have the best qb and offense.

Ohio State and the B1G-quit bitching cause you didn't deserve to even be in it last year and Clemson showed that. Schedule someone and beat them.

That’s what I meant.... but your SEC comment makes no sense. They’ve never got a two loss team in
I guess that you missed the fact that the Committee had two-loss Auburn ranked No. 2 before yesterday. Auburn was a lock to make the Playoffs, if it hadn't lost yesterday. No other two-loss team has had a ranking that high, IIRC. This isn't your father's SEC, but it is treated as such.

Cuyahoga cries in his beer doesn't have the same uncontrolled outrage that he had when one-loss Ohio State was selected for the CFP. That's because he's a fraud, who is insanely jealous of The Ohio State University.

Some of you are missing the main point.
FOX runs the B1G network and ESPN runs the SEC.
When the CFP contract with ESPN runs out it is on FOX to bid and win the right to broadcast the games so then they can sell their product.

This is huge because it places the B1G in the position that is needs to find a way to increase their brand so FOX can bring in more profits.

Problem is that Michigan and Ohio State do not like the price of what it will take to beat the SEC.

So this deadlock continues

Since 1991. This was a list from 2015. Only game since then was the Oregon Ohio State championship game that is Eleventh on this list.

This list and the fact that the SEC and ACC networks are controled by ESPN will always determine the CFP.
  1. 35.6 million - ABC, BCS title game/Rose Bowl, Rose Bowl, Jan. 4, 2006, Texas vs USC.
  2. 30.8 million - ABC, BCS title game, Jan. 7, 2010, Alabama vs. Texas
  3. 30.4 million - ABC, Rose Bowl, Jan. 1, 1996, USC vs. Northwestern.
  4. 30.1 million - ABC, Sugar Bowl, Jan. 1, 1993, Alabama vs. Miami.
  5. 30.0 million - NBC, Orange Bowl, Jan. 1, 1995, Nebraska vs. Miami.
  6. 29.6 million - NBC, Orange Bowl, Jan. 1, 1991, Colorado vs. Notre Dame.
  7. 29.1 million - ABC, BCS title game/Fiesta Bowl, Jan. 3, 2003, Ohio State vs. Miami.
  8. 29.0 million - ABC, Rose Bowl, Jan. 1, 1998, Michigan vs. Washington State.

You sure you're not Donald "Fake News" Trump? Only you and Ohio State fans think the Buckeyes are a better team than Alabama. You got it wrong, sonny. You can't have it both ways. If Ohio State was the "right" choice last season, then Alabama is the "right" choice this year. I think you may be a secret member of the College Football Pretzel committee. 'Fess up.

When people start claiming the better team was picked it doesn't make sense.
Only way to determine who is a better team is head to head.
If head to head is not played then you cannot quantitatively determine who is a better team. They have tried but those numbers included into the algorithm are based on what a human deemed to be important.

2 things, Gramps:

1. I never once said OSU was better than Bama or that they belonged in and Bama out

2. Your argument last season was someone should have to win their conference to get in. OSU did that and Bama didn’t.... and here you are being a GIANT hypocrite simply because your OSU butt hurt got eased a bit

The fact is that back to back years, the Committee has put in a team that didn’t win their division much less their league, despite your “brilliance” that you claim to be superior.

At some point, maybe even with your last breath on this great earth..... you’re going to have to admit “I was wrong again”

No need to cry when you're a champion, and headed to another big-time bowl, as usual. Enjoy the J.V. game in the Cotton Bowl, as the big boys play three days later in Jerry's World, T-Bone.

Notice how Gramps is now championing anything WV-related as a pivot to still hold something over Ohio St..... which obviously has completely overtaken his mind at this point in life.......

“Yea, well..... you have another great season but a guy from WV had a better one!.... unless he loses and you win?!”

That's what this has been about all along, Keats. If it weren't, then why isn't CFE holding his breath, stomping his feet, and sobbing his fool eyes out, as he did when one-loss Ohio State (as well as Washington) was selected instead of two-loss conference champion Penn State last season?

LOL

I love it that Ohio State is kicking and screaming about being left out. When they got in last year over the Big 10 champion. Now they're the Big 10 champion with 2 embarrassing losses being spit on. I love it.

Go Trojans. 13-9-1 vs Ohio State. Trojans 7 straight wins and counting.

Why do you care where WVU is going bowling? Why are you even here?

Don't worry about Red letter man. He's a harmless. Other than being senile and forgetting the Cotton Bowl is a top tier bowl.

Not only that but when you are wrong you refer to me as TBONE. Hilarious.

Whatever you say, T-Bone. So, now you're pretending to be a USC fan? WVU season ticket holder/fake Michigan fan must be proud of you. No kicking and screaming here, delusional one. Ohio State's offense, using the players it is using now, would not win the National Championship, so I'm not upset by the snub. What the CFP Committee has proven is that it cares much more about losses than wins, as Ohio State has three better wins than Alabama's best win, but an additional loss, and a bad one. No need to schedule good OOC opponents, as by doing so, you risk a loss that you can't afford, unless you go undefeated in a Power 5 conference. Lesson learned....

More nonsense from someone who doesn't know jack. I am cheering for USC because I hate Ohio State that much. I cheer for Michigan because I hate Ohio State that much. Except when Fraud was at Michigan.

You can't predict how good a team played in OOC will turn out to be. Cool thing is I had Ohio State at 4 if they won. Kind of shocked they put Alabama there.

Committee is a joke no doubt about that. Trying to say who top 4 are.
