Anyone else concerned about how we handle Clemson's press? I know we really haven't experienced it much this year, and I am sure Pike and the staff are practicing ways to beat it. But the few times we were pressured on inbounds plays, especially recently, we have not fared well. We certainly have the ball handlers to help break the press, but we also turn it over more than necessary. I am concerned that the press will cause us to start out slow, which is not what we need for this team's confidence, especially on the big stage. We are the better team IMO, but we also have not seen constant pressure from an opponent. This is where the upper classmen need to shine.

More concerned about inbounds plays than the press, especially if they put one of their 6-9/6-10 forwards on the inbounder with their quick guards.

We have several guys who can handle the ball well, and haven't generally had too much of an issue breaking a full or 3/4 court press. Young can break it almost all by himself sometimes, but we'll almost always have at least 2 of Baker, Young, Mulcahy, McConnell on the floor, all of which can bring up the ball - along with Myles/Harper to pass upcourt to.

It may slow us down a bit, but it's only off made buckets - most of our faster transition points come off of rebounds or turnovers. Our half-court offense usually uses most of the clock anyway.

definitely more concerned on inbounds. If they press and speed up the game, I think that favors us in a big way.

Not concerned at all about their press. Nothing special. I've watched several of their recent games and feel we are more athletic than them and have the experience to make it a non factor in my opinion.

From a Clemson perspective our press isn't really intended to turn you over. It's more about just putting stress on your ball handler for 94 ft and possibly forcing you to start your offense a bit further out and possibly deeper into the clock. We may force some turnovers but it's really more of just one man ball pressure to cause anxiety. We're not a 40 minutes of hell full court pressure team. We want to dirty this game up, make it an ugly defensive game, and hopefully win it in the low 60s. We're not a bad offensive team but we hang our hat on defensive intensity.

Oh, it'll be plenty ugly!

Agreed... press means a lot of beating the press which means a lot of fast breaks which is where RU is at its best. Bring it on!

We can run the floor for sure. A lot of our early season success
was connected to our ability to do that

Your press sounds a bit like what Jacob Young does on most plays.... Force the point guard to think all the way up the floor, instead of being able to relax and take in how the defense is setting up.

We also like to make it an ugly defensive game, often because our offense can get ugly without any help on a bad night. This might end up being first to 50 wins.

No. I'm not concerned. Pike and gang will watch film and practice how to break it. I'm more concerned that Clemson will try to clog the paint and force us to beat them from the outside.

Myles ... the game is not won in the first few minutes! Go easy until you see how the game is being officiated.
