a lot of wimatts throws have been slightly high... 6'8" might get the job done.

All 2 and 3 stars. Feels like an Ash class. I thought we brought Schiano in to recruit better. I'll give him a couple more years but this isn't encouraging.
Maybe we can recruit from the basketball team. They have a lot of height.
I mean the 2022 class was very solid. That class had six 4* recruits if you include Wimsatt. I think losing Fran Brown really hurt this class. But so far to me 2024 seems like it’ll be closer to 2022 than 23.
Specifically,. who would call a play in the red zone that would take advantage of a 6-8 WR instead of running a QB turned TE up the middle 3 times? And would Schiano allow this hypothetical OC to actually call such a play in that situation?
Was intrigued by your last sentence and the seemingly good prospects for 2024.
Looked and we only have 1 commit who seems to be outside the NJ Top 25 with offers from UConn and Temple?
This is why I don't bother with recruiting and figuring out how the class is ranked and if it means anything.

yea but Rutgers at least seems to be looking good for good recruits. Currently looks like the #1 for a 4* receiver and Erasmus Hall has a 4* that Rutgers looks in a pretty good position with.

With Ash, he didn't have to worry about buying recruits...well, at least on the up and up. Greg has his hands full and very little purchasing power. The lack of a named OC is going to hurt the offensive side of recruiting. I'm still thinking/hoping our OC is known at this point to the staff and recruits, but hasn't been named yet because he is involved in a bowl game. If not, WTH with our OC?!?!?!?
I would be concerned if most of the recruits were 2 stars, but what is the difference between a 3-star and 4-star player?

TCU and Boise had great teams with mediocre recruits.
Conversely there was a stretch where FSU was getting top classes in the nation but losing 2-5 games a year
Some 4* and 5* players are nice but RU had great players in 2007 and still had a poor red zone.
I don't wait for savior recruits and recruiters.

Does it really matter? Any players that became stars will just leave for SEC NIL money. The highest bidder rules the day. Hard to get excited anymore.

Hang on now, that's not true about Tommy. It's been discussed to death. The helicopter father, the girlfriend he spent the summer at the beach with instead of learning the new Captain Kirk schemes with his teammates, checking out a bit after making freshman all American, etc. Bottom line he was young, got bad advice and made some less than perfect decisions, as many of us did at that age. In the end he wanted to come back, and the only reason we didn't take him was because he couldn't get the waiver to have to sit a year and our schollie situation was we couldn't give one for a sit out year. Otherwise he would have finished here instead of Pitt, and he made the NFL anyway.

The problem really got bad in 2010 when RU set D1 sacks allowed record
More concussions and damaged ribs were spooking everyone since the concussion hysteria was getting started them.
Savage was a pocket passer and RU pockets lasted a few nanoseconds before the hits poured-in
Savage was big and not too mobile - he had a habit of taking full impacts
Physically Savage was becoming a mess in 2010 and I know the family was concerned - any family would have been at that time (hysteria).
Savage was the best QB I ever saw at Rutgers
He had to be the momentum leader for program growth
Alas RU could not recruit OL and 2010 became a disaster
Throw in EL's injury and it was the worst season I ever saw in college football.
Schiano seemed tired after all that and he left not long after.
The the Flood/Ash disasters kicked in.

I know there were some god seasons and games like Michigan but those were coming on with Schiano players and coaching.
Flood never had Schiano's command presence and gravitas - he was a happy puppy passing out Popsicles and the team went to seed

This hit would be a penalty today, and rightfully so.
The offense was not good but blaming Sean for this was a stupid move. He needed time to build his offense and now RU is going to miss on a lot of portal players and recruits because of Greg's impatience. This also has to make a lot of potential OC's shy away from taking the job as well. I am a Greg supporter but once again, this was moronic.
