I have learned. Have you? Every year, there's a handful of fans who think we'll lose all of our fringe guys to the draft, even when many of them (outside Whitney, Maxey and to a much smaller extent, EJ and Ashton) don't project in the draft. Do you have a similar statement prepared about Juzang, Hagans, Montgomery, and maybe even Richards or IQ about why we should all be on NBA watch for those guys? Do you really think all of our fringe prospects will be drafted? If you're using history as a determinant on draft projection, you might want to factor in the reality that almost all of our OAD guys were composite top 20 freshmen and those who didn't bolt after a single season didn't really shock the world when they came back for a second year because they weren't ever really projected. There's exceptions for guys like Bledsoe, Herro, Booker, SGA, and a few others, but for every Herro there's two Lees and Matthews staring back at you.

All of those guys are fringe, joining Brooks in the camp of guys who need to prove themselves before becoming remotely draftable. We have four or five guys who are in that Wiltjer/Lee/Matthews level camp. With that many guys auditioning for second round draft slots, I think it's only logical to think a few of them will come back. Brooks, because of EJ's and Kahlil's presence on the team as probable starters (and because of Brooks' rawness), looks to me like a logical candidate to return.

Funny you listed about 7 fringe guys who went, and only 2 guys who did not.
Also, Brooks is a freaky, athletic five star, Not a 50's fringe guy as you call them. NBA drafts on potential and elite athleticism. He has both. Just because he is not YOUR favorite recruit, does not mean he does not have NBA potential. Save these post and we will re- visit them at the end of the year and see who is right.

Find even one mock draft that has him anywhere near the draft at this point.

Also, if you want more fringe guys who didn't go after their first year under Cal, here's a list:

WCS top 40
Miller top 40
Liggins top 40
Lamb top 25
Briscoe top 15
Green top 30
Washington top 20
Richards top 20
Hagans top 20
Quickley top 20
Matthews top 40
Gabriel top 20
SKJ top 30
Poole top 30
Lee top 25
Ulis top 30
Wiltjer top 25

Not to metion top 15 guys like Poythress, Jones, Johnson, or even top 5 guys like the Harrison twins.

So you think Brooks is a likely OAD. That's fine. I don't need to convince you. I just disagree. I'm sure you can find a way to deal with that fact.

No, you missed my whole debate. And very good discussion by the way. No name calling just people giving their point of view, a refreshing change. Look at my very first sentence. "He hasn't even played one game, and you all ready have him coming back." I never said he IS one and done. I said you are all ready penciling him in for the 2021 roster. He may not go, but it is not a lock he comes back. That is my point. Honestly, we need to recruit like he is a one and done. No need to get caught short handed.
