Hard to commit to season tickets when the players can’t commit to the fans.
It’s getting harder and harder to want to commit to this. A revolving door of players every year is just tough to get into. You don’t how good or bad we’ll be. At this point, you really do it for support of the Head Coach since he’s truly the only face of the program. It really sucks.

So even if no one else leaves do you guys think we can finish out of the BE basement? The future BE coaches poll will be interesting not only for us but all the teams in the BE not UConn or St Johns. Or maybe even for them? Keep a check on how the other BE teams are reloading from the portal. PC and Creighton have started reloading already.

If they were my sons, their word or handshake would mean just as much as a signed contract. But's that's from a bygone era. Let bygones be bygones.
Easier said than done. If you are offered $200k to 500k more, . You and everyone else would break their word and handshake. Why? It’s not like they have a career with a company. It’s a one year or two year window to make as much money they will earn in their entire lives. Then it’s over. Maybe they play overseas but they will never earn this amount again. I don’t blame the players, I blame the game and state of NIL and college athletics.

The players have to do what’s best for themselves and their families. It’s not about the fans anymore, if it ever even was.

Who is left and if we can field a team with them? If we were to add no transfers? Parker and Williams at the guards, Dar and Rivera at the forwards and Mbaye at center. Seems like a workable group. That's a base with Felton. Who else is left? Fischer? Suemnick? If all or most of these kids stay then the future may not be so bleak?

Someone start a position depth chart?

Rivera, Fisher, and Suemnick are done. I’d expect another transfer too.

Best if Keep Dar and Parker. I have high hope for Parker but only as a strong defensive guard with decent finishing. He can arguably be a better Shavar, but that is not enough to win games. Hopefully one of Clark or Hines don't prove to be greedy and come back. If Nil isn't an issue, I do not get leaving for another school for me unless it is a really good school.

If I gave my word on a deal, I wouldn't continue to shop the deal. That's being a scumbag. Don't agree to a deal if you are not done shopping.

I'd be surprised if both come back..........

Maybe neither one.

Kinda worried about that to be honest. Just seems crazy we would not be able to match whatever Clark can get.
Maybe it’s not about matching at this point.

my guess is SHU made their offer based on what they thought his value was relative to their projected budget.

His agent has him convinced that his open market value is higher than that offer.

The only way to realize that pay day is to enter the portal and find out. He may not have a specific offer on the table from someone else currently.

Fair point. I just thought once Hines was gone that we would do whatever it takes to keep Clark.

Maybe it is false promises from his agent, but continuity should have been worth something for us to hit the number he needed to stay. I'm worried that maybe his number was an absurd ask because he didn't want to be here.

No idea what is happening behind the scenes but is just hard to stomach as a fan that we can't keep anyone.
We are either not giving competitive offers, or we losing out on players because they don't want to be at SHU.

Either way it sucks.

That's a 12th place team in an 11 team league...

If hypothetically he asked for $2.5M (which some reports have rumored) would you have committed that much of our potential budget to Budd?

I would happily take Dar, Williams and Parker back, but only for very minimal NIL or a scholarship. With an $8 million budget, we can't be overspending on reserve players.

That's a definitive yes from me. I would have offered Budd $2 million out of the gate, Hines $2.5 million, and Simpkins $500k in the hopes of landing all three for $6 million or less. Once we lost Hines, I would have been willing to push close to $3 million for Budd.

I've said this multiple times, but the market for replacement level players and scrubs is going to plummet once the big boy programs finish eating. The stars like Budd and Hines will get snapped up quickly, but a lot of kids will be left waiting for a spot at the big table. There's only so much money and so many roster spots to go around. That's when a budget school like Seton Hall can find great value on players.

Lock up the stars and wait for the market to bottom out.

We were in almost this exact same spot a year ago. Maybe let things play out first.
That's a 12th place team in an 11 team league...
And that league is the Northeast Conference.

The problem with this theory is that these so called stars also want to win & you're not doing that with a low budget supporting cast.

Lets say that hypothetically Budd was offered 2.5 Mil & he still bailed. Wouldn't you come to the conclusion he didn't want to be at Seton Hall?

Well we don’t know because it’s a hypothetical scenario, but I bet I would have retained Budd. Not at $2 mil, but at a number less than 3. Seton Hall, however, did not offer Budd $2 mil out of the gate. Not even close.

No, I would not reach that conclusion given what we’ve been told by Trilly and on the Trove about the process.
