Every single one of our “A” players have entered the portal and left in the last four years. We are a feeder program until something substantial changes It is what it is.

The P4 schools were setting it up so that schools like ours will be satisfied to make the play in games on the first weekend. The odds of making a sweet 16 or slim or none.

No chance Shaheen sticks around for this nonsense. He’ll either look to move up to a bigger program or get into another area of coaching / scouting / individual coach
He doesn't strike me as a quitter. If a big 4 type of coaching opportunity came up, perhaps he moves on.. but don't see him abandoning ship completely. He's got a pretty good stake in all of this.

I hope he sticks with SHU until the current (unsustainable) process is changed to put some limits on the agents / players.... they hold all the cards now. Where is the fairness in that. The fan and the non-revenue sports suffer. The word unsustainable is talked about a lot...... What will that "unsustainable" world look like???? I'm going to the Penn relays later this month..... it's a day spent watching athletes who work hard and perform for the love of their sport........... something pure and maybe old fashioned about that.... but very satisfying,

IMO, the die was cast when the previously amateur only Olympics started to allow professionals. Now, college athletics has admitted professionals. They should have some responsibility / accountability for something other than the almighty $$$$. There has got to be some middle ground here.

Can't compare Olympics to united states top level athletics at the college level.

European teams and ussr were using pros in men's basketball prior to 92. Track and field are pros.

Clark and Hines deserve more hate than Kadary if they leave. At least we knew Kadary always could be a snake.

This is why they should they should've just competed in the Crown or NIT again. TBH I see more value now, cause this can sadly be the norm with how pathetic NCAA SEC mafia want their whole conference over other mid major schools.

What hate? Seriously, if they were your sons and could leverage the system to make a fortune over the next 2-3 years for playing 30 games a year, what would you tell them? Take half (or less) of that money?

NOBODY DESERVES HATE! And I don't want to hear that word in here again!

If they were my sons, their word or handshake would mean just as much as a signed contract. But's that's from a bygone era. Let bygones be bygones.

Well that’s a different question. First, we really don’t know the specifics of how the “negotiation” played out. Secondly, I agree that your word should mean something.

The initial question about advice. What will Clark’s earning power be as a pro, even if he makes it? If he can bank and addition $500K - 1M next year (a guess at the delta), that’s real money that he will never likely make post graduate in any year.

Sucks for us but this is a business. If he can get more money elsewhere, go get it.

Seems crazy that we wouldn’t be able to match what he could get elsewhere though with Hines leaving, you’d think we have some room to spend on Clark?

Maybe we can replace him for a lot less. I’ll wait to see the final results before getting all emotional

I’d tell him loyalty to a school means something and as does an education. Clark is never going to make it in the NBA and will likely not get many offers overseas. What exactly will Bud do when the money runs out..after he buys an expensive car and buys momma a house?

I would tell my son, optimize your return in this environment, bank the money, get your degree and enter the job market with a healthy nest egg to start your career.
