it out of control. Putting our freshman RB on the front page over a speeding ticket is absurd!! When is someone like Keenum gonna do something about this huge ongoing problem MSU has with the Clarion Ledger??

A comparison on the coverage of Hill vs the thieves would be nice. Did the CL write a similar story on them?

I'm sure Hugh is working on his piece of how this is such a minor offense for the poor black college football player, or is it a much bigger deal than shoplifting? So what constitutes a minor offense in his eyes?

Do you all really think cancelling the state's biggest newspaper is the best play here? Maybe it is, but I would think calling in and demanding better coverage is the answer. Sounds like throwing out the baby with the bathwater, curing headache by cutting off the head, etc. But what do I know.

If nothing changed after the SEC Baseball title headline, nothing is going to change. Maybe if enough advertisers went directly to Gannett, Gannett would step in. If corporate offices weren't at least informed of the decision to try to bury the Ole Miss stories, I'd imagine they'd want heads to roll over that. Maybe they'd look at UM advertisers and bless the decision, but I can't believe they'd want the local paper passing on a story like that without at least informing them (and if they informed them, I'm guessing they at worst would have made the decision to give the story flood coverage with their other outlets and let Clarion Ledger pull up the rear.

I'm boycotting them along with my local Radio Shack and Blockbuster. They're going to die out anyway. Just speeding up the process.

Yes, I think not giving money directly or indirectly to a business that does not promote my interests is a fantastic move. I think the CL dying would be an excellent outcome. If there is a need for that service then another will take its place.

Why not? Do you continually pay for other items that are subpar? If the state's largest cable provider was out a high percentage of the time and there were other options... do you call and gripe or do you switch? If the last car you had stayed in the shop for a month out of each year... do you call and gripe or buy another brand next time?

MSU fans have been fussing about the CL since the 90's. They have had calls. And they have shown recently they will boot out reporters that dare dig in the wrong places and settle for morons who will carry the water.

And assuming you have a phone made this decade, you know most of the news 12 hours before it's in any newspaper anyway.

Seriously, didn't the CL stop covering JSU for a while because the school changed its media access rules? Let's do that.

Also, while we're at it, I'd love for MSU to fire this guy,

Oh man I was totally with ya and getting fired up by your post and then you linked the Clarion Ledger and I lost my semi

I would like to say I am stunned but I'm not.

That's pretty much waving their bias in our face saying, "What are you gonna do about it?"

I doubt the paper itself is being subsidized by UM. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if a couple of key people at the paper are getting some under the table money though.

What positives do they have to offer? If an event involving MSU happens on Saturday afternoon, why should I wait and pay to see it in the paper the next day or pay to see it online? There are many sources doing a MUCH better job of covering MSU that get the same quotes, interview the same players and coaches, take similar photos, all for free. Same goes for statewide or world news, lots of free sources. Im not going to support them when they are so obviously slanted in their coverege.
