We held to 44 points on Friday. We can only manage 44 at Cincy tonight.

Is that the yin/yan of TU basketball? More like the yin/yuck.

They need to have a mercy rule in college basketball. It looked like the other team was better prepared to play. I have just copied that last sentence as I need to paste it a lot after TU games.

Coach Haith did have that look in his face like he wished they could play running-clock over the last several minutes.

Not sure why we have such off and on 3pt shooting under Haith. More off than on.

I’m starting to think this is like Huffy’s speech on kickers during football season.

There are guys who can shoot in high school when open. College defenses are so much better. It’s a harder task. We just aren’t evaluating the right guys who can do that at this level.

What’s painful about this is I really like our players. I can’t think of who you wouldn’t want on your team. But we have a glaring weakness that won’t improve.

To say that we are just finding the wrong players in high school that can’t translate their game to the college level makes absolutely no sense. We have had HS players from every part of the country, from prep school, Juco, and transfers from other Division I programs. You are telling me that we have simply evaluated incorrectly on all of those? What are the odds that would happen? Astronomical.

The answer is that once they get here, they are not coached properly. Our head coach is the only constant in all of those players’ performances. Part of it is the weight room and off-season training, part of it is game preparation, part of it is instilling mental toughness and a winning attitude. And ultimately, all of that is the responsibility of the head coach.

Ability to shoot seems to be one of those innate traits that you can’t teach. Most of us who really follow our recruits could tell you several years ago that shooting was going to be an issue. They aren’t improving in other areas, too, but if you can’t shoot from outside in high school or JUCO, I don’t see how that will improve with D1.

There are plenty of other issues as well, though.

Sorry guys, I missed the first half driving home from work. I was optimistic to see us within four on the road at half time. I must have jinxed us when I turned the stream on because we immediately went down double digits. Won't let it happen again.

I have to admit I might have been wrong about Cincy fighting for an at large. They still have a long way to go, but they aren't looking too shabby right now.
Even if Tulsa wins the regular season title, the Ark State, Colorado State, and Texas Directional U loss kill our at large chances. Not to mention this 40 point drubbing.

I disagree with you on this. The UT Arlington game while it looks bad is still a Q2 loss for us as long as they can stay above a 135 NET. We cant recover that Arky State loss as it is destined to stay a Q4. Colorado State even though they are a Q3 will move to a Q2 if they get under a 100 NET. What is hurting us is our Strength of Schedule. This gives us no clout. That said if we win the rest of our games and only lose to Houston and Wichita State then we are still an at Large team unless there is a surprise champion in the smaller conferences and get two in because they have one that would be a lock. These wins over Houston and Wichita State and Memphis (if they can pull their head out of their butt) are going to greatly help us at the end of the season. I think we are in a better position than you think we are.

Play better in those games and this isn't a conversation. That all I'm really saying
