A decent coach could take this exact team and have 4 or 5 more wins than we currently have. It’s the same story year after year, we see players have a few very good games, then regress. Not saying we have championship level talent, but properly coached we would be in the upper half of the league.

Except last year we won a conference championship. This is on Haith and it's about the internal dynamics of the team. When you are busting your *** looking for a chance, you look around to see one of two things:

1. Everyone is busting ***, they are putting in the work, it's clear this is what you do, those who earn it are rewarded and success is built up, each step taking you closer to the top.

2. Some people bust ***, some people dont.
A) People not busting *** sit, others get their time. You better bust *** or sit.
B ) Some people play if they bust *** or not, if they are good or not.

Option 1 is championship level
Option 2A is good team level
Option 2B is players who want option 1 or at least 2A leaving, or players who don't care put out no effort because it just doesn't matter anyway.

If 2B has talent they can still win some, but otherwise 🤷‍♂️

My guess is not a single starter or sub returns next year
Haith leaves or is canned
And TU scrapes by with 6-7 win season and finishes last in the AAC
And attendance averages in the hundreds

A good coach can make a difference in a few games , but if you don’t have the talent to finish
then you get the 2021 Tulsa Hurricane team. Coach Haith and staff ,made mistakes in player
evaluations and the results are a mediocre basketball team that makes too many turnovers
and has usual scoring droughts every game. What we would give to have the talent of Nolan
Richardson’s teams of the 80’s where a coach rolls out the ball and yells ”SIC EM”.
