2 sweet 16s in 13 years was the best he could do. Shows you how desperate UCLA was for any coach.
Jay wright has only been to 2 sweet 16's in the past 12 years. He won the title those 2 seasons but that was more of putting a great group together . Very poor resume other than those 2 seasons

Yes. That is often overlooked. 2 titles though.
Cronin never got past the sweet 16. Very overrated coach IMO.

Now all of these other teams can find out how fun it is to start from scratch.

Yea and 13 years ago he made a F4. We can cherry pick numbers all we want. And keep in mind he's had all this success at a program that was not considered a national powerhouse and they were a dumpster fire when he took over.

That’s nice and all and I really enjoyed some of those teams. I’ve been to a bunch of UC games being from Nky, and I’ve always pulled for them and followed them...but Cronin never took them past the Sweet 16.
As did Huggins outside of the one final four year right? But he walks on water compared to Cronin in their eyes. Getting rid of Cronin was a mistake on ucs part

I know Cronin personally from when he coached at Murray State. Played golf with him a couple of times, great guy.. Has overcome some major health issues during career. Don’t understand why UK fans hate him so bad, very competitive guy who fields very competitive teams, why is this a problem.

You’re right, but it also makes me wonder how feasible this whole no repercussions for transferring thing really is. I mean their program is going to be absolutely gutted by this.

At what point is there accountability on the part of the kids? Those kids made a commitment to that school. Anymore, it just seems like young people aren’t being taught to honor commitments. It seems to be a society-wide thing, not just sports.

it is society wide, everyone is a victim, don’t work hard, if something happens it’s not my fault, etc. and it’s being rewarded and praised.

I’ve known him too. He’s miserable.

“Kentucky, Indiana, and Louisville have more losses combined than we do”. Ya think, Mick?

They made a commitment for one year by NCAA regulations. Free ride get renewed every year I believe.

Pick numbers?
He's been at villanova 20 years and made it to the sweet 16 6 times.
That's pretty bad

Huggins made 1 final 4 with UC and I think the highest seed he beat to get there was a 6. Constantly underperformed in March.

I forgot all about that. That's the Cal we need, this version ain't cutting it.
Speaking of UC, more than likely Brannen won't be the coach at UC mid next week. UC has an investigation going on right now based on info that came back from the players. He's gone!

Sounds like a huge mess with the players bolting and coach most likely being shown the door.
