Dude we just witnessed #3 SEC vs #3 B1G.

Who cares about top sec teams racking up wins against bottom feeders like Wake Forest, FSU, UCLA, Wisky, NC state etc.
Most wins vs other p4 conferences

Most draft picks

Best teams, best players, best conference

Super simple.

I agree whole heartedly with your post that rooting for conferences is the lamest thing anyone can do.

Let AI pick the 12. Not Google AI though.. it would be all HBCUs
I agree. Or go back to a BCS type ranking for the 12 and that is the seeding as well. Committees are just dumb at this point to me, especially when they never answer questions or give you any info. Leave possibly 1 human element in, but that is about it.

Name IU’s best win
Then go thru Alabama’s.
They have 4 quality wins compared to IU’s …? I’ll give them Michigan

Alabama beat the 2 seed
IU looked like IU in each game vs tournament teams
Shouldn’t matter. Neither deserved to be in a playoff. They lost in the season qualifying rounds.

Top 8. No byes. Screw the 12 team playoff. They already play too many games.

I felt 8 was the right number for a long time. I was surprised when they went straight from 4 to 12. With the money involved, it’s hard to get the toothpaste back in the bottle.

But swap Boise and ASU into first round, and everything is better. Most obvious quick fix for next year.

Why have conferences champions games? If the loser still gets in. It really should start with those games the loser is done the winners go on to the next round, screw notre dame they should join a conference

I was in Boulder. The writing was on the wall. The Buffs could've put up 80 that night on our defense. We made that NC game by beating out the buffs in a flawed BCS system by two hundredths of a point. The Canes players, in interviews, all relate that the 1st half of the NC game was the worst half of football they played all year. They had an off night and still managed 37. I agree that no CFB team was beating Miami in '01. However, I'd by that point lived through nearly 4 consecutive NC's and had been attending games in person since '99. Trouble was clearly on the horizon. More folks than not from my demographic (45+) have a similar view. On the other hand, younger folks who did not have to see the full dive into the dumpster fire, in my view, are lucky to have been able to skip that.
Yeah that 2001 team just wasn't even as good as the 2000 team that lost to OU and KSU. I can't stand the constant harping about 9 or 10 wins because it is far too often reflective of schedule strength. In 2001 and 2003 we had relatively easy schedules and caught OU and PSU in off years. A huge portion of the fanbase will just never get over Solich and Pelini for some reason and won't be objective about how good either actually were. When Osborne retired the program was at the apex of college football with a deep roster. By 2003 it was just an average top-20 team. Pelini thrived on Callahan recruits. Honestly, Callahan was more likely to see NU back to being a top-10 team if he made staff changes.

He and his staff outcoached Rhule and his staff in every way imaginable. They kicked our asses all over the field. Most embarrassing NU loss in years. Therefore, I will not criticize the guy until we beat his team into the turf.

They should get rid of the CCGs now. They only hurt teams like Georgia who now has lost their starting QB.

Agree. I was at an all-day celebration of life party at a home in suburban Detroit when we played Indiana. There was a cross-section of fans there, Michigan, PSU, Tennessee, me, an Iowa St guy, a Wisconsin guy. After our game all the other fans were gracious and sympathetic about NU getting pasted. They were past being happy Nebraska has fallen so far. Now they just pitied me for being a fan of a once great program that is so totally irrelevant with no end in sight. I can handle other fans scoffing and yucking it up that Nebraska loses all the time. But having other fans pity me was humilitating.

Wut?
a) why does anyone care about Georgia?
b) why is making football as safe as shuffle-board priority 1 ??? More proof of the matriarchy feminizing masculine pursuits.
c) why would anyone who loves football want fewer games to be played ??

Their backup qb played better than the starter and is the only reason they're even in the playoffs. Georgia also wouldn't have advanced to the playoffs without a CCG win.

I at times wonder how far Callahan would have gotten us IF he changed the defensive staff along the way.

That he did. I won’t argue anything you said. Except - he’s the biggest douchebag hc in college football. My guess is that Saban wouldn’t argue.

No. The lamest thing you could do is root against a conference. I mean, to make it your full-time job seems really silly. Troll on...

I hate the teams in our conference

I’ll never root for them and I’ll never understand why anyone else ever would

You think very many of the fans of other Big Ten teams root for Nebraska? Why should we care if they do well.

Indiana was actually moving the ball on Notre Dame. It was just like the Ohio State game though. They made mistakes and couldn't finish the drives. The second half was all about not losing by anymore than needed to keep some weird message that they weren't outclassed.

Remember that Curt was mad when Ohio State scored in the fourth after their second string defense allowed Indiana to score a garbage time touchdown to make the score look better. Ryan Day decided that Cignetti wouldn't get to deliver that message after saying Ohio State was garbage in the preseason. I have a feeling that's going to be a common theme going forward. Notre Dame didn't have anything but the road ahead of them and really just let the clock run out.

I Googled Curt Cignetti. It showed his team was murdered on a football field and his nose grew a few inches.. Should have said Google me I win, against teams struggling to win against anyone.

Cignetti is almost as big a narcissist as Knight was, but is a bigger *** for someone who hasn't won anything.
