But how is a team 4 to 5 hours away in playoffs going to know the conditions of the facility until they get there. NCHSAA should inspect all new members before they are allowed to participate and inspect all others every 7 years
In the case of the Richmond and WIlmington school (it was Laney in 2002) the issue was the field but also capacity. From watching film and speaking with the prior opponents Richmond went into action. Think it was Tuesday when the Richmond HC, AD, and principal or superintendent traveled to Wilmington.

Christ the King may not be up to speed but I am sure there are a lot that are inferior to most and what they should be. Some of the schools in the east are very substandard compared to what is in the mountains.

I think it is easy to find out about a facility, just speak to the opponents and people in the area involved in the game. There is only so much the NCHSAA can do. The LEA is the one that makes the calls on basically everything.

I don't know how accurate this is if someone sees a discrepancy but just happened to find a website Carolinaprep that listed all the NC high schools with school athletics information including the schools football stadium capacity. So just for the heck of it I looked up all the remaining teams in the West wether or not they're playing at home or away this weekend.....

Eastern Randolph 4k
Mtn Heritage 7k
Robbinsville 2k
Cherokee 4k
Mt Airy 2k
North Rowan 4k
CTK n/a
Hayesville 3.5k
Thomasville 6k
Swain 7k
Draughn 3k
Mitchell 8k
Andrews 2k
MIC n/a
Murphy 5k
East Wilkes 3k

Let's just hope Hayesville puts them out of their misery. If not it'll happen next week. They're a long way away from being another Charlotte Catholic.
Maybe it's a private school thing. According to the website I meationed Charlotte Catholic at 4A school multiple state championships in 2A 3A and 4A only has 2,500 seat capacity a 1,000 less than Hayesville.

With the funding of the NCHSAA they should send a rep to each school to determine if facilities are up to the minimum standards. Or at least have each school document their facilities and send it in. No dressing rooms for the players. Hayesville may play in a mud bowl and then get to ride several hours without the chance to clean up.

NCHSAA IS the governing body !!! It’s solely their responsibility. It sure isn’t the teams 5 hours away

My question is did Hayesville summit a formal complaint to the nchsaa and if not why didn't they? I would have first thing wether it did any good or not. And if nchsaa didn't do anything about after a petition I'd be calling someone and asking why they weren't going by their own rules?

Back in the day a lot of the 1a teams in the east didn’t have good facilities but teams from the west would book motel rooms for the players to at least clean up in after the game
Being over 150 miles they get reimbursed 75¢ per mile that rounds up to $335 , $360 for hotel and $270 for meals plus after nchsaa's 15% half the gate though doesn't look like that's going to be a lot not sure how well Hayesville well travel down there.
If they want to find a place for 54 people that going by their roster and staff.

Maybe more if Carolina Preps stadium project is not correct. Not sure where he got the numbers. Does Swain have 5000 ?
Chris Hughes put that together as he travelled around the state taking pictures of various high school stadiums and those are his estimates. He got pretty close with Freedom, East Burke and McDowell, all of which have high seating capacity FWIW.

The stadium is shoehorned in behind the school. Great stadium to watch and play in although the field does not seem to drain real well and the bleacher on the visitor side is Robbinsville style. Practice facilities are not impressive. Charlotte Catholic puts more emphasis on academics than athletics.

A lot of the posters here seem to be knowledgeable about the stadium situation. I am sure if the Hayesville head coach and AD had concerns they would have voiced them with CTK and the NCHSAA. They may have some concerns and those were addressed. Most likely the Hayesville coaching staff does not really care, they are going down there to kick azz.

The NCHSAA should buy in to moving the game. It would mean a bigger crowd and more $ for them.
How many people are going to show up to another location that will not show up to CTK? If they go to another school CTK is writing a check out of the game proceeds for rent and costs they would cover at home. This is not a big money making event.

Well I'm sure they do but you don't win a many state championships and complete as well as they do in sports without having a pretty good emphasis on athletics as well.

Well Hayesville knows the rules so apparently they're okay with it and have a plan....

"If the visiting team has a complaint regarding the playing facility, it shall be registered by noon
on the Monday preceding the game. In the event of such a complaint, the President of the
Board of Directors shall have the authority to appoint a committee of three members of the
Board to investigate the facilities. This committee shall be vested with the full authority to set
the site for the game.
(4) If a neutral site is selected, the representatives of the two playing schools shall meet with a
representative of the school furnishing the neutral field to agree on game management."

Absolutely but the facilities are nothing special. The Big Four Privates in Charlotte have fabulous facilities. The public schools in Meck do not. Catholic in between but closer to a public than the privates.

Are they any team out there that finds out late Friday night who their next opponent will be then google information about their opponents facilities such as visitors side bleachers, locker rooms, bathrooms, concessions ? One would automatically think that this would be a certainty. And then file a formal complaint by noon Monday. I don’t see this EVER happening

Hayesville played at north ga this year and if they haven't changed the location all they had there was public bathrooms to change in. I went 4-5 yrs ago when Andrews played down there and coaches where standing at the doors while kids changed. So I'm sure they have a plan for pregame.

What about post game after playing in rain and mud. No showers and having to drive 5 hours home. It wouldn’t be anything if it was a local game but 5 hours is unacceptable. A little mud ain’t going to hurt this young men but dang it’s 2022 not 1976

They took showers after games in 1976. Today, I don’t think many showers are taken in any gym. I don’t get it. Glad I’m old.
