Do they have bleachers? Every picture I've seen online is just fans standing on like a very small grass hill?

Shouldn’t be allowed to host if you don’t have adequate facilities for fans

4.5.5 Playoffs (General Requirements, Officials, Press Conference, Sites) (a) Minimum Seating Requirements are as Follows - Class 1A — host 1000, visitors 500; Class 2A – host 1450, visitors 750; Class 3A – host 2000, visitors 1000; Class 4A — host 2500, visitors 1500.

Well I looked at the visitor on Facebook unless a hill that will hold 500 very much doubt they fill those requirements. Looks like something for grade school soccer.

Last I was there the visitors’ side had some bleachers but from the top row of them you couldn’t see over the players’ helmets on the sideline. Best to go stand on the hill below the scoreboard for the all 22 look, unless you want to sit on the bank on the home side.

The deadline to file a complaint about the host team's facility was due yesterday.
The NCHSAA won't enforce without the proper complaint. They'd send someone appointed by the committee to check it out. If it was indeed inadequate, the committee has the full authority to determine the site of the game.

I'm not on any such committee, nor does anyone really need to care about my opinion... but sitting on a grass hill ought not to count as seating. I haven't seen the stadium, but now I'm super curious.

I’ve seen their last game against Avery on Hudl and unless they’ve replaced it since Friday then no it’s not turf. No one‘s going to file a complaint because nothing will get done in the end just saying if you’re up to host a playoff game at least have adequate facilities for players to dress in and use the restroom

This happened to Andrews 1st game of season playing Hickory Hawks at NCSD. No bleachers and no concession but had 2 porta John’s. I had to run to Big Lots and buy 2 lawn chairs which I had several chairs at home if I had known. This was in August which was ok but this shouldn’t be allowed in playoffs in November with rain in forecast

If their "stadium" is as bare bones as it sounds, how is this allowed? It looks like from a post above, the NCHSAA has minimal requirements for a stadium and seating based on a schools classification? I would say if a school cannot meet those requirements then they don't get to be a member of the NCHSAA. Though, I have seen some photos of the stadiums from some of the very small schools in eastern NC - Mattamuskeet and Columbia. Their stadiums certainly don't look like they have the required seating for a 1A school on the home side.

CTK has no seating capacity listed at all

Bishop McGuinness only has seating on the home side of the field. Seating for 600 only.

Hopefully someone from Hayesville gets pictures and sends it in for complaint. It may not fix it this year, but moving forward they need to rectify it. Things like this have never crossed my mind. Even the old Murphy visitor bleachers were better than this and that's saying something.

Yes, but side by side with the home side holding more and if it is a big game is the visiting side lucky to get a set ? 600 doesn't go far. I would not make that trip. No signs saying home r visitor side in any of the photos. It was designed for when they were NCISAA not NCHSAA.
At the top of the press box, it does say in small letters home on the large side and visitors on the small section. The home side looks to be 400 and visitors maybe 200 but the home can take as many as they want if they play a school that they can play a close game with. These schools should be forced to have seating for home and visiting teams. I thank Swain seats 5000. Mount Airy shows 2500. Christ the King should be forced to play at a school with bleachers !

Yeah, the lack of seating for the visiting team is bad enough. But if they and their fans have to use Porta Johns and the visiting team has nowhere to change, that is 100% unacceptable. A school like that shouldn't be allowed to compete in the NCHSAA.

Once upon a time there were concrete bleachers on the home side at NCSD, but they were condemned and removed years ago. The visitor side only ever had portable aluminum bleachers, so there's no excuse for there not being any over there for your game.

WOW, the NCHSAA is losing money at these schools and taking from the schools that have sufficient seating.

If a school does not meet the minimum requirements for seating the visiting school can file a complaint. They can do the same for lack of facilities and field / facility conditions. I know NCHSAA personnel has went to sites the week of playoff games and has moved game before. Biggest in memory was close to twenty years ago when Richmond put in a complaint regarding field conditions at a Wilmington school for a late round playoff game.

If the visiting team does not file a complaint the minimums are not required to be met or the two schools can agree to play there. Cannot remember which way that works. Bottom line, a visiting team has some say in the site if the host school is not up to par.

But how is a team 4 to 5 hours away in playoffs going to know the conditions of the facility until they get there. NCHSAA should inspect all new members before they are allowed to participate and inspect all others every 7 years

MA has two field houses one for home and one on visitors side. Awesome video scoreboard that with bust your ears and nice field. The bleachers are nice but in need of replacement along with that pitiful press box. Definately need some bleecher's up grades and have herd rumors of turf.

In the case of the Richmond and WIlmington school (it was Laney in 2002) the issue was the field but also capacity. From watching film and speaking with the prior opponents Richmond went into action. Think it was Tuesday when the Richmond HC, AD, and principal or superintendent traveled to Wilmington.

Christ the King may not be up to speed but I am sure there are a lot that are inferior to most and what they should be. Some of the schools in the east are very substandard compared to what is in the mountains.

I think it is easy to find out about a facility, just speak to the opponents and people in the area involved in the game. There is only so much the NCHSAA can do. The LEA is the one that makes the calls on basically everything.
