At least, my gut feeling says we get one of Collins/Stokes now, Stokes not coming here is not end of the world. Collins gives me feel of Caleb Wilson without notorious look-at-me personality, which is definitely good for Mark Pope system
Stokes mother seems do not like KENTUCKY, and if Stokes finally goes to other schools, this may be a factor
I am sure if it is not for Nike, he would commit to Kansas/Louisville already and we may even not be in his top 3.

He’s playing Football, that is the only difference. When he’s done with that he will decide.

If Collins is ready to commit you can't say no to wait on Stokes. Stokes has a very high ceiling but so does Collins. Collins would kill it in Pope's system

But yes his current skillset is more of 4 but his athleticism is very good for 3

If we really have the payroll that everyone seems to think we have, UK should have no trouble landing someone like Collins if Stokes says, "no thanks."
We likely lose $6 to 7 million in roster salaries once Oweh ($3 million), JQ ($2 million), Aberdeen ($1.5 million), and possibly even Garrison or Williams leave.
Bring in Stokes at $3.5 million, add a portal guard at $1 to 2 million, and give everyone else a slight raise and we're good.

I don't see Pope shelling out 5M for any one and dones. An unproven commodity in college for the same price he can go to the portal and get at least 2 really good players that fit specific needs seems to be the way he wants to attack roster building. Looking at this years roster I can't blame him. I'm not sure that type of pay wouldn't create problems with team chemistry either.
Stokes is lucky to even get a chance to play here. His decision will tell all. lol at his mom amongst a bunch of drunk and high manchild fans all gangstad up in bufu. If they want that please go ahead and commit to doofus Kelsey.

He is super talented but I think his money should be in 2.5-3M based on his current strength. More than 3M is overpay

Yea I would too, Duke is the only school where one doesn’t care if they sign 3 others just as good. Even though only 5 at a time can play, they still get in line like a bunch of robots ignoring the fact some of them are going to have to sit more than they want.
Marcus Lee ? The one that contributed a decent amount during the platoon days? A member of the 38-0 squad? I’ll take a Marcus Lee all day every day. Wasn’t a top notch player but I also remember the days when Marcus Lee was our 10th/11th man.
Now days we get the Mountain Mamba.

I think people let their hate for Cal blur their vision a little bit. Every player Cal had can’t be a NBA MVP like Shai and D Rose. Not every single one can be an all star.
Kentucky needs talent point blank. Collins would by far be the best player of the Pope era. I don’t think he dominates next season like Stokes will but he will be solid. He would have the talent to change games out of the blue like Marcus Lee.
Marcus Lee would for sure start on this team or last years. He’s played professionally ever since he left UK I think. Not gonna look it up. For someone to say aw I don’t want another Marcus Lee is crazy. Yea he wasn’t better than the high level players on that 2014 Kentucky team but he’s levels above the talent we have now.
it’s like the fanbase won’t admit to wanting talent. Well five stars just to make it seem like we moved away from Cal. We wanted talent before, during, and after Cal. Well I do anyway.
Yes he could get up. Even if that was his only skill. That skill alone won us some ball games. Talent alone. Some of the more exciting years for me as a fan. Seriously Marcus Lee coming off the bench to dominate during the NCAA tournament.
Did we really have talents like Marcus Lee tucked away as after thoughts back then? So many players get overlooked because of the high end talent that came through here.
