Better be thanking Milewski on the way back to Starkville tonight.

James’ “catching” cost us two more runs and almost cost us the game…

In fairness to him it’s not his fault. He will be on the infield next year. He didn’t come here to catch. And I’m really not sure why he was in that late with a 3-1 lead

His bio says he was the #2 catcher in South Carolina, #4 player overall, and was All Region and All State at catcher. He only made 4 starts last year at Virginia in the field, 2 in LF and 2 @ 2nd base so its not like he changed positions when he left high school though.................

And he played zero at Catcher. My guess is Perfect Game isn’t rating him for his catching skills…they are rating him b/c he could rake and just happened to play catcher.

Oak came out and said he was not intending to use him at catcher at all this year. I think while Milewski was having his issues early in the season, it basically forced him to try James (and Raymond).

So, do we think, barring injury, Oak has finally decided to just ride with 2 catchers? Perhaps get Chone's bat into the game in other ways.

Wasn't Peter Mershon a highly rated catcher out of high school? I assume since we have never seen him behind the plate, those days are gone.

Correct,There is a big difference in catching in High School and Catching in College. He seems to fit the classic Utility player, it wasn’t his fault he was in late in the game at catcher.

Charlie Wortham is a freshman out of Missouri. #1 catcher in Mo as a senior. Good friend of mine went to high school with his mother. Said he was a stud but looking at his stats he has zero stats.

Think it’s worth pointing out that Raymond was out sick this weekend or else he may have gotten the start. Only thing I can figure is they wanted to give Milewski a reduced load day since we already had the series clinched. That would be the only thing that makes sense for him not starting Sunday, as he had two doubles in he Saturday game.

Meanwhile, Sanders hit .317 last year playing 2B. He sits on the bench. We have options sitting on the bench. Valincius is impressive. James, Bevis and Wyers are productive when they get their opportunities. Oak has definitely settled on his lineup.
