As I am sitting here still being cranky that Iowa St. will most likely sweep us in the three most important sports and that we lost wrestling for the first time since I was in college...

I think there needs to be a lot said about Chit Chat and her return. She about single handedly kept us in the game in the first half coming off her concussion. She was all over it tonight and her conditioning was great for being out so long. She seems to be a heck of a competitor and I am glad she is on our team.

She really played great, needed more from others. Still it was a good game-wrong team won.

Disappointed in the post play. I only watched first quarter but nobody is ever in any position to make a move to the basket and basically just watches the guard run around to pass it back out. Miss the days of MC, almost always going for a bucket when she got the ball.

Even though the Hawks missed on the ISU transfer portal pg, I think Iowa got the better player.

Can someone who knows more about bball than me explain why she didn't seem to the ball towards the end of the game when she appeared to be the only one not shooting ice cold at that point?

It's hard to get in the flow of the game when you are called for a foul every time AC went to the basket. At least twice AH simply had her hands straight up.

She didn't about keep Iowa in the game. She was the reason they weren't run out of the gym. She's a budding star for sure.

It's a work in progress. The only thing keeping Ava from being dominant is her being smart about not putting herself in the position to have fouls called on her. If Ava was able to stay on the court for 30 minutes, Iowa would have won the game on Wednesday.

Monika averaged ~67% from the field. Ava's at 63% this year, but she takes a few more jumpers away from the basket. I anticipate senior season Ava is going to be superior to senior season Monika

I think she'll be very good, but I'd never jump right to that conclusion. Lets not forget that Monica played with probably the best post feeder whose ever played, and the best player ever at spreading the defense out with her ridiculous range. CC22 shredded defenses from packing the lane with her range, and ability to pass in crazy small windows, and moving off pick and rolls. Also they played together for three years and around 100 games as starters. They knew each other without time to think.

Like it or not, part of post play in the Read and React offense is taking turns. As a post player if you catch the ball outside the lane it is not your turn. You are looking for the cutter or the spray out to an open shooter. If no one is available then it becomes your turn and you can go to work attacking the basket. If you catch the ball with feet in the lane then you just attack the basket as there no taking turns. Many may not like that approach but it’s one of the things that attracted me to the R&R Hawkeye offense—their ability to play an inside out offense, sharing the ball. I believe it’s great team basketball.

Monika also had the before of Clark feeding her elite passes. No discredit to Monica.

Edit: point already made
