that 4th down call was awful. Sent the lb on the slot on a blitz and had safety who is 15 yards deep (they are always too deep) pick him up. Its obvious they are going to run routes to the sticks there! They arent going to dance around and go deep!
Players stepped up 2nd half. Too bad chins left em hanging to dry when it mattered.
Its stuff like that that makes me wonder about chin. This isnt a case of "kids need to learn system". Thats just a dumb play call in that situation.

He gave up 31 and knew their playbook inside and out.

Its too soon to fire him, its his first year.
Its high time you got off your self-righteous pedestal and got your nose out of your butt. Have you ever in your life said that there was a bad play call?
That was a terrible call, even non husker fans are saying so on the national board.
Im glad im not a cuck who just sits and says "oh its all okay nice participation. Cant be critical of millionaire coaches."
Honestly, very rarely do I criticize play calling, and when I do it's almost always on offense. Because I have this quaint idea that coaches know more than I do 99% of the time. I know that kind of humility is real tough for some people.

I don't want Chinander fired. But I'm not too confident in him, knowing that his defense at UCF actually got worse in Year 2 than Year 1 (despite adding a 1st round NFL pick in Mike Hughes).

Frost thinks he can just outscore everyone and get some turnovers, but there are too many tough, disciplined teams in the Big Ten compared to the other conferences he's coached.

It was obviously the wrong play call. I have no idea how anyone can think otherwise. No idea at all. Would you like to talk semantics? Perhaps I can help your football IQ.

You talk about humility? You thump your chest about how youre some super fan all over this board and have for years, calling everyone and anyone out for questioning any coach in any situation, including the worst coach in Nu history.
They get paid can handle that some nobody on a message board says they made a terrible play call. Especially when it was.

Its ok to want pressure, but when you do that and the offense needs 8 yards you better be in press defense, because the QB can just get rid of it to the open receiver before your pressure arrives. Thats a long way for the OLB to go, and our safety is covering his guy. Way too far off. So stupid.
Yes, routinely giving up third and forth and long cost us several games this year. Before I start calling for a fifth DC this decade, I'm willing to give Chinander a break until the players have another year or two in his system and he can recruit to it. If we had a pass rush capability and had a couple sacks and several hurries before that play, maybe Ferentz punts. If we had 4-3 suited, powerful DLmen, maybe we are never down to the wire like that anyway. The second thing is it is a team game and everything can't be blamed on the D. What if Pickering kicks it into the EZ on our last KO - we probably go to OT. What if their last KO return was to their 15 instead of 35 - we go to OT. How come Jovan Dewitt gets a pass? I think our D played well enough to win at tOSU, Troy and Colorado. They crapped the bed at MI, WI and NW, but I think the O lost this game. Not having Spielman was crucial and if we don't get ready-to-play receivers or develop a couple from the 14 left on the roster, we will be in a world of hurt.

Team loss... they will get better... but if it helps you heal by throwing blame, then you do you...

If your philosophy revolves around outscoring people then 28 points isn’t going to cut it. The defense held iowa to its season average which is about all you can expect.

Todays game and the OSU game the offense didn’t step up when the defense was at least average

UCF doesn't seem to be missing Chinander much this season. They're shutting down USF's offense, after shutting down a good Cincinnati offense last week. They're 21st in the nation in scoring defense, even with a Top 10 offense.

So do you think he should be fired or not? If you think he's so bad, then why not? It's high time some of you whiners and complainers put some courage behind your convictions. You people criticize nonstop, but then are too cowardly to suggest the big moves be made.
At this point we all know he will not be fired. So there is no point to even suggest it. Between his 2 years at ucf and his 1 year, he has not shown his Ds can consistently hold good offenses to under 30 ppg. Not saying it can't or wont happen, history has shown so far he can't. I think that worked in the AAC, but in the BIG10 I think our D is going to have to have a better D than what he has provided so far.

Yes, Randy Shannon is a real legit DC that could easily get another power 5 DC gig. Chin would get zero power 5 DC Offers.

That one guy said he was going to track me down and "world star" our fight.

I said, you would have to come to my gym and sign a disclaimer. It would have been on the internet afterwards. I don't like fighting, but you have a big mouth. I gave you an invitation.

I think Chin is not very good at all. Look at his history. He gives up lots of points. I did not want him to come to Nebraska. UCF's defense was not good and people on here were saying that when we hired SF. We are stuck with him now.

Yes, that is bizarre. We gave up huge boatloads of 3rd & 4th long downs. That simply "must" improve next year.

I agree. They played their asses off.
If you read my post, it is calling out the awful 4th down call.
That’s been our mentality on a lot of 3rd downs though. If it worked we’d be praising the call. I’m not too upset with the call, Reed just needed to make a better play on the ball

I am old enough to remember when people were saying McBride had to go. He got the athletes he needed and he all of a sudden was the greatest D coordinator of all time

I was gone all day long and just finished watching the game. No, Chinander is not horrible. Hopefully the OP has calmed down. But, I really don't give two *****. I was pissed at the end, but mainly because I knew the kids worked so hard. They deserved this win. If it weren't for the defense, this could have gotten ugly.
