If this is accurate and the number of reported cases in China is accurate, perhaps the spread won't be as bad as predicted.

Right, but you're missing my point... if this started in Nov, then that was well before the lock down

Everyone is afraid of offending China, but they could have stopped this or at least seriously slowed the spread when the first group of 6 or 7 doctors came forward to express their concerns about this virus. They were reprehended and threatened to not speak of it as to cause a panic. Then a month or two later the govt realized it was so big that they could hide it no longer,...then and only then did they come forward to warn the world.

They are far more extreme because they didn't listen to the medical experts. Extreme measures wouldn't have happened was his point.
