Other than a terrible nickname what’s the story with this dude? Everyone predicting he’s one of our next assistants. @ralphdaltonfan whats the scoop. It’s times like these that this board shines and is actually worth all the headache. Exciting stuff boys!

Up-and-coming assistant coach; started with Tim Miles in 2013 at Colorado State and followed him to Nebraska, after eight-years of coaching in high school and in AAU.

Chin Coleman is well-known throughout the grassroots level of basketball and has significant connections within that level for recruiting.

Also, has been credited for leading the Illini’s resurgence the last couple of years and seen as the “architect” for the rebuild under Brad Underwood.

Chin is also responsible for getting Ayo Dosunmo to Illinois and for his development.

Not very well-known from the common fan or seasonal follower, but Chin is highly regarded throughout grassroots basketball and highly respected by accomplished individuals in the game.

This may not seem like much to many of our fans, but it would be HUGE to bring Chin into the fold as an assistant—not only for recruiting, but for his extensive game preparation and scouting reports.

Fans wanted a “total rebuild” ... they now have it. Cal is going for it all and making one last run for another Championship.

I can't claim anything about knowing on Chin Coleman/UK. Travis Graf had that info and some others did as well. Know JustWar knew something as he reached out and while he didn't say who--he just let me know changes were coming. My friend had given me a heads up that big news was on the way last week but didn't say what--player or coaches but said things were happening. So I'll ask more now/see what he can share. I was tipped off about a player who could be an option but will wait until I'm given okay to say it publicly on boards.

If Coleman is hired-I love it. He's an excellent development coach with guards and has strong Chicago recruiting ties. He coached Mac Irvin Fire in EYBL from '05'-11. Recruited Ayo Dosunmu and Adam Miller to Illinois and if anyone knows the politics of Chicago recruiting with Illinois's program it's a big accomplishment. I'd also assume Antigua would have a recommendation to give Cal that was enough to make him reach out. We'll see what happens but since it's out this would be a move that I think would help the program big time.

Coach O seems all but official at this point. This guy seems to be the consensus mystery hire but I guess Illinois thinks he's staying now. Who knows...we'll know soon I believe.
