Didn't want to start a thread, and it is related to this topic, so I thought I'd post it here. During today's KSR show, Jones basically said the assistant coach shakeup was due to the fact that starting with the Zion commitment to Duke, Cal did not feel like his assistants were being honest with him about where they stood with recruits, an he was losing people he thought they were good with.
That’s a good reason but Zion and pretty much every huge recruit we missed on was paid for after 2015 it seems.

And I believe it’s still happening. Coaches just aren’t afraid of the NCAA anymore , plus their jobs are on the line .When the NCAA allows some teams to get away with it .......I’d do it too , you almost have to if you’re going to complete .

Im going to teach you something today. Assistants usually leave for other coaching jobs, Ie. Kenny Payne. Assistant coaches play a vital role in recruiting and developing players. Cal can’t do 100 things at once like idiots thinks he can. Look at 2009-2014 and then look at now, ever wonder why recruiting fell off after 2014? OA left for a HEAD COACHING job. He’s one of the main reasons we were so good and the reason Illinois was. #1 seed this year. Assuming you’re not capable of comprehending that, I probably wasted 2 minutes of my life.
After reading this, all I can say is, UK is paying the wrong guy $9,000,000.00 a year.

If OA was the main reason we were so good from 09-14, then he should be the one making the big bucks, right?

At the very least, we should make it so he never wants to leave.

I didn’t say OA was the main reason, OA was one of the main reasons. He played a vital role in us being at that leve. Try to keep up Jeffery, you’re fallen behind.

Lol, Illinois was tied for being the first #1 seed out of the tournament this year. Their recruiting has been way below ours. I am excited to get Antigua back, but no need for revisionist history to make his hiring more than what it is.

More than it is? It’s huge, not another assistant in all the land I’d rather have back than OA. Cal could hire Jesus and you whiney babies would complain.. lol

Haha, nice back out, or attempt to back out. You put your foot in your mouth a lot.

How am I complaining? I want OA back, but some of you act like it's way more than what it is and revise facts to fit a narrative.

We are not acting like it’s more than it is! It’s a huge hire, plain and simple!
It's a good hire, but it's not like everything will just magically change because of it. People act like he was the recruiting ace, but Ill had pretty medicore recruiting classes while he was there. We continued in the top 2 each class. Illinois also just got bounced in the rd of 32 as a 1 seed. Again, I am glad to get him back and expect it to be a benefit, but it also has to be kept in perspective.

My point is we never EVER should be in this situation , and I'm the kind of guy that holds people accountable for their actions/results . I go back to Joe B .. no one has done what Cal has done , divided BBN .
You must not have been around when Tubby Smith was here.

Are you always this stupid?
Why in the world are you calling someone stupid on a basketball board ? That does not look good on a basketball board and makes you look really bad. If I was an administrator you would be suspended. There is no place on here for that. Calling someone stupid on a basketball board says a lot about you.

Hard to believe we all are purportedly pulling for the same team. Would think we would be ecstatic getting two top flight coaches. Chicago has produced many of our best players. Tyler U should be mentioned along with the others. Coleman should continue there and his Ill guards were good. He will help with our guards.

I think Orlando is a keen judge of talent combined with toughness based on his work at UK and Illinois. I think we have lacked that combination at times since he left. Kinda soft overall. UK when he was here had tough guys who won some games in the pre game layup lines. Intimidators. Tough.
