CHICAGO (WLS) -- Dozens of people were wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday, police said.
One paramedic described the evening as "a war zone."
Since midnight, police said 43 people have been shot, six fatally. Since Friday at 5 p.m., 60 people have been shot, nine fatally, in shootings in Chicago.
34 of the shootings and five deaths occurred between 10 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday, according to police. During one two-and-a-half hour-hour period, 25 people were shot in five multi-injury shootings.
"We know that some of these incidents were targeted and are related to gang conflicts in those areas," said Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Fred Waller at a press conference Sunday afternoon.

Chicago does not have the strictest gun laws in the country. Time to retire that fake news chestnut.

You would generally classify by state. Illinois is one of the tougher states but not the strictest. The strictest would probably be California. The handgun ban in Chicago ended in 2008 and you’ve been able conceal carry in Chicago since 2013. That’s probably where all of this originated from.
I’ve read that San Francisco has a law requiring firearms must remain locked away when not in use. That’s pretty strict. So I guess if if you pointed a gun to my head, I’d say San Francisco.
I'll hazard a guess that conceal/carry permit holders aren't the one's doing the shooting in Chicago.
You know what they say about assuming things.
But it is factual to state that allowing concealed carry is a loosening of gun laws...therefore making them less strict. Which is precisely what we are talking about here.

Maybe it is just a celebration problem in Chicago? I mean folks were just out on the streets with illegal firearms having a good time shooting other folks on Barack Day. That seems like such a natural thing in the cities. Meanwhile the NRA headquarters in Virginia had to endure the anti-gun crowd protesting those who carry legally and without malice. Hell, I just went to the range to get away from it all! Bottom line: we don't have a gun problem we have a CpEER level IQ problem.

I’ve never heard or seen Chicago as having the strictest gun laws in the country. It does have “some” of the strictest in the country which is what I always see said. And it is in fact a correct statement. Stop trying to semantic the discussion, you look like a fool to anyone who actually knows firearms and firearms laws because you clearly don’t.

Chicago does have some of the strictest gun laws in the country, along with NYC/NY, NJ, DC, Maryland, and California. Basically any state that is a “May issue” vs a “shall issue”.
