I like it. People crap on the Sun Belt basketball format but its genius and other conferences are following. Your best teams should be rewarded. And that #'s 1 and 2 should easily get to the semis. Their first game is game four for their opponents....wow.
What is the purpose of this bracket design? To let some weaker teams get the opportunity to get some wins against other weak teams (which I guess would presumably still be better RPI wise compared to their typical OOC schedule? Or is it a chance to give the good seeds one more easy win against a lower seeds #3 (or worse) pitcher, which will look better RPI-wise thant it actually is, even if it ends up being a pretty mediocre RPI game regardless? Or is it just to make sure the top 4 seeds have a cakewalk to the semis? I just don't get the point. Make the first two rounds single elimination. If are going to go a mix of single and double elimination, it seems like hte double elmination should be in the later rounds.I think I like this format.
