jed, why do you think that Power 6 schools haven't broken away? They have talked about breaking away for over 40 years. The simple reason is, the NCAA is the best thing at the present time, because none of them trust the other. Basketball and football have become such big business, it's all about winning, and getting the big bucks, for the coaches and the schools.

If a coach, or his assistants, were caught cheating, and the coach was bared from coaching an NCAA school for 5 years, for the first infraction, and lifetime for the second, then there would be a lot less cheating. Don't kid yourself, ALL coaches cheat, some more then others. No coach ever admits to it, even when Championships or games are taken away from them. They all say they didn't know anything about it, and their Assistants are to blame. The NCAA doesn't take games away from a school, without evidence, regardless of what the coach says. He is not a choir boy.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

I'll chime in.... laziness for one.

It's a combination of that AND 1) the work required, 2) the need for an independent body to negotiate terms between rivals, 3) money... how long before they're making the money they were AND how much will they lose to the revenuers. The association as it was set up MANY decades ago cannot be set up the same now (if I recall the rules correctly). There would be no special tax status for them.

I also wonder how many people would boycott watching such a clearly for profit association that as of now watch the CFP and in season games

Point missed, but now we know who we are dealing with here.
the point is obviously I'm not an idiot just not an academic like yourself. People take different paths to be successful, you were insinuating that I was an idiot because of my grammar, my point is my life choices and where I'm at in life refute that. I thought an academic like yourself could draw the correlation.... wow just wow

does anyone find the irony in Kentucky fans calling out other programs for cheating? I for one find it hilarious. I mean 2 KNOWN cheaters coached at this university Cal and Pitino.
Piss off Ricky.

I'm 100% for UK "cheating" at this point. It's just the way. It reminds me of a minor league catcher I knew in the Pittsburgh pirates farm system. I spoke to him at length just after the great steroids scandal all over baseball. He said everyone still does it, but they aren't being caught. Everyone knew and didn't really care, including the league officials. It created an environment where everyone had to do it, because you had no chance if you didn't.

We won't win if we continue to play on an uneven playing field. Just cheat like everyone else, so at least things are even.

The NCAA must have though Cal was involved a couple of times, or they wouldn't have taken wins away.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
Then why did they state otherwise in both NCAA reports? If they had something on him they would have taken him down.........

There’s so much naivety that exists when it comes to how rampant college athletics cheating is.

So, you're 41 years old and come to another teams message board and talk and act like a child? Maybe you should re-evaluate your life

Does that make you feel like some sort of super man trying to make fun of someone else ? Sounds to me you are the one that lives in a shack. You are the one that everyone should be making fun of. I don't say on this board that anyone has a low IQ, but if I did, you would qualify.

For the same reason they very seldom find the coach guilty. Coaches deny they were involved, the school pays the price, and the coach get away with it. If they can't prove it without a doubt, then the coach walks free. The NCAA does not want to get into a lawsuit without a lock tight case.
